WSOP online circuit

Can anyone tell me if it is legal to play in the wsop online circuit if I live in a state (Maryland) where I am only allowed to play real money online poker on 2 sites (Betonline and Sportsbetting)? I want to play, but don't even know if I'll be allowed to download the software.

WSOP.COM is limited to players physically located in New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware. You may be a resident of anywhere but you must play while physically located in one of these 3 states.

I always thought that the WSOP is a series of exclusively live tournaments, almost unrelated to the Internet. And here it turns out you can play remotely.
