This is a discussion on What are the basic rules for live poker? within the online poker forums, in the Live Poker section; I still hesitate to go to live poker due to my lack of experience in real tournaments. What are the general rules for these tournaments? In
There are lots of rules. Keep your chips neat. Big denomination chips must be in front. You can't hide them.
You have to watch for the oversize chip rule. If the BB is 200 and you toss a 500 chip into the pot, it's considered a call unless you say "Raise, 500." The best advice is if you want to raise, throw in more than one chip. Also announce your bets. Don't be one of these morons who tosses chips into the pot and doesn't announce your bet.
Get to the casino early. You may have to register for a player's card before you can sign up for the event. Don't sign up late.
Pay attention and be ready to act when it's your turn. Don't wear headphones and keep missing your turn.
