Poker needs a proper Grand Slam of Poker. The issue really comes down to player control, not mainly board control. Texas holdem and even omaha are mainly board games. Texas holdem can't have it's own Grand Slam, due to it's the same format of play. Golf has the Grand Slam, due to different designed courses, and tennis has a Grand Slam, because it's played on 4 different surfaces. The game that should be considered as the Grand Slam of Poker is Money Card. It has 4 different board formats, All 3, 2-1, 1-2, and 1-1-1. Players start with 3 cards preflop, and each player gets their own Money Card. Best 5 card hand wins. The players hand is bigger than the board, that is what makes it, a player game. Players have an edge over the board. Unlike texas holdem, where the board has the power, 5 cards to the players 2.

Not to get technical...but the grand slams you mention have nothing to do with the surfaces or courses, but rather the amount of prize money available to be won.

Tennis for example only plays on three surfaces: Hard court (Aussie Open, US Open), Clay (French Open), and Grass (Wimbledon). And because all can be played inside with retractable roofs, all technically can be considered indoor tournaments if needed.

The issue shouldn't be the money, but the challenge. Winning a triple crown in poker used to be winning a wsop, wpt, and ept tournament. Since the ept shut down, that does not apply anymore. It was the same game played but in a different area. Basically saying you won 3 tourns, playing the same game. Now if you look a horse racing's triple crown, it's 3 races of different distances. It's the challenge of each different distance, that makes a true triple crown. In baseball you win the triple crown, by having the highest batting average, homeruns and rbi's. Money Card is a true Grand Slam, 4 different board formats. Texas holdem or omaha can't claim that. Power to the player.

The European Poker Tour is not shut down but was suspended due to Covid 19 concerns.

The EPT Event for Sochi is still scheduled to commence in early October and a high roller event was just staged at Merit Hotel and Casino Cyprus. The problem for the EPT is that thousands travelled across borders to play making impossible to stage events last year.

The reality is many European casinos have reopened over the last few months with Covid protocols in place.

In fact I believe that pokerstars stated its intention to broaden the EPT series further once it can safely return.

Happy for the EPT. Winning 4 texas holdem tourns, no make where they are held, doesnt make you a Grand Slam Champion. You are a multi tourn winner, big difference. Example again, from horse racing, you can win the kentucky derby, and preakness, unless you win the belmont, it doesnt matter. You can win the breeders cup classic, but you aren't defined as a triple crown winner. That's also why the money issue is irrelevant, the winning horse in the classic, gets more money, than winning a triple crown race. So the money factor doesnt mean anything. Playing and winning the same exact game in 4 different locations, doesnt qualify as a Grand Slam Champion, but a multiple tournament winner.
