I play online mostly and treat myself to a live game at the nearest casino an hour and a half away once every couple of months. Maybe when I’m rolled to play mid stakes the drive would be worth making daily.
Anyways, since they don’t see me there 6 times a week I think they profile me as a fish when I sit down. And a LOT of players get my attention and flash me their cards. What I suspect is they profile me and want to set up plays for later by showing me that they folded the nut flush draw etc. It’s usually when they fold something like the 2nd nuts or the nut draw. Almost to prove how solid they are. And it’s not once or twice for the fun of the whole table, it’s only to me and it happens excessively.
It’s always the same motion at this casino. Both cards vertical in the palm with one slightly angled and a side to side motion. Literally everyone shows their cards this way.
What they don’t realize is they are giving me information. Oh, you will fold the nut flush draw on the turn to a 1/3 pot bet? You play K3o from UTG? I think to myself. But every time I go since I go so sparingly, no one recognizes me even though I remember seeing them (they see so many new faces at the tables daily when I have only been to those tables a few times).
Long story short, I don’t understand the excessive showing of cards to only one or two players at the table. It is usually directed to me and it happens a lot. I don’t show unless I have to.
What are your opinions?
