This is a discussion on Poker at home within the online poker forums, in the Live Poker section; I was wondering how many people get a bunch of people over to their house or go to someone else’s house just to play poker
I was wondering how many people get a bunch of people over to their house or go to someone else’s house just to play poker with friends. Something more relaxing then a poker room at a casino but more exciting then online.
I play poker at home only. At home I am always comfortable. In the casino, I happen to be very rare, so I almost do not play live. In addition, it is hard for me to find more time on the game than 2-3 hours a day.
I agree with you Vavilen I am hopefully going to find some people around me on here that we can get together like once a month or whatever and have a poker night. I think it would be a blast. I used to go to the other side of the state where my buddy lives and gets a couple people together to play and it's a lot more exciting because there is other stuff we all have in common and it feels more relaxed.
When I started playing poker 10 years ago, we regularly met and played with friends every Friday evening. It was quite fun and also more exciting than online and they were looking forward to the evenings. However many friends and also I have got children and the priorities have changed and our round ended. That's why I only play online and this very rarely, because I got my second daughter in May.
Home games are a ton of fun. I learned to play at and develop most of the aspects of my game at home games. They are fun, friendly and generally just a good time with people you know.
At my home we play alot of 10ppl turbo sit and go tournaments for $10 - $20. Sometimes we play cash holdem instead for smaller stakes - 25cent / 50cent is good fun and people can get in for $20. I am going to get a trophy made at a local hobby shop and hold a "no limit holdem heads up" tournament at my house this year as well.
Home games were a great way for me to get started and i even ended up building a table for myself and one for my father in law to play on.
I myself still like playing home games, but when i have the cash to spare - i like to go to the casino and win some real money off of some real fish
Funny you say that lol. In the process of building my home game table i almost considered springing for the "shuffle tech" card shuffler and in table mount - the only problem was it was super hard for me to justify about $750 simply for the "cool factor" lol. If i ever decide to waste enough money on a device like that i will certainly post pictures and a video demonstration of it in use.
Gathering to play poker in people's homes nowadays is very seldom used. The game to be good needs structures: as dealer, chips, custom table and even money to make bets, because the playmoney is without emotions.
The best thing a poker player can do is play online or go to the casino or attend a live poker tournament.
And those who play online and have friends who play poker, the best you can do is challenge your friends to play online, at pokerstars it is possible to create a poker club with friends.
I play at home online, but sometimes my friends come to me and we play at home in live poker and it's a great time for me to spend with friends and play my favorite game for me, I do not have the opportunity to play in a live casino in my city country all casinos closed the government, and I have to play only online poker or get together with friends from someone at home to play!
I used to play in a lot of local home games, but the closest real card room is at least 3&1/2 hours away. I like it when it's a bunch of people playing and no rake being taken, but when they have a dealer and take rake, it seems they take more than a casino would, and nobody is really regulating it unless you watch each pot yourself.
Home games are the best. At one time we had a standing Saturday night game with family and friends. Then people got busy with other things in their lives and one by one drifted away. I miss those games. Maybe I should do something about that. Good friends, good food, and good poker.
I do not have friends in the poker world! I hope to find them here! all the luck at the tables!
hahaha my friend you do not have friends in poker
I recommend putting an ad in the newspaper with the theme "friends are looking for" hahaha is a joke.
Mira I tell you that I also thought that I did not have friends to play poker and great was my surprise when I realized that on Facebook I had many friends in common who played poker. Now I usually hold events at home and even more with the articles that CC has published on how to be a good host.
