I've been playing online exclusively (minus a few home games) for a few years now. I am pretty much a break-even player but I enjoy the game, more specifically the understanding of odds and probabilities and mathematical concepts in general.

I feel like, even with HUDs and hand history, online poker is more challenging. Those of you who play both, what is your experience as far as win rate and variance is concerned?

Obviously the number of hands played live vs online is much lower, but I feel like a decent player with a basic understanding of the game and the ability to make a few reads would have a much higher win rate playing live.

I'm looking at playing a Harrah's Cherokee. I've read that the cash games have pretty good action and they have a good tournament schedule. Does anyone have any experience there, or general tips when playing at casinos? I prefer MTTs, but would definitely would want to try my luck at 200NL.

I probably haven't played enough online to answer this question. I've never made an online deposit. I played free rolls pre-black Friday and ran up a recreational roll of a couple hundred bucks. I just started back online in November again with free rolls. They had a free $20 promotion that I've run up to $132 so far. The cash games definitely play differently but we aren't close to comparing apples to apples. Live my main game is 2/5 NL $1k max buy if I break it down by hours played. I also play 1/3 and 1/2. I took one shot at 10/10 but lost. Kind of ridiculous to try to compare that to 2NL and 5 NL. I'm playing mostly 10NL now online. I think I have about 15k hands total since November so I'm not sure if any of these win rates mean much yet but I can share them when I get back home to my HUD if you think it's meaningful.

Sounds like a great plan man.
But I prefer to play live tournaments rather than cash games. They are two different games, I feel.
To start out, you’d probably have a much better success rate playing to tournament than the cash game. [emoji1303]
