Listen music while playing online is a common practice.
What about live poker? Can you sit in headphones and listen music? :musicus:
Or you'll be suspected of having support from the spy, whispering opponent's cards in your ears :listen:
Or you just supposed to hear everything on the table as a general (maybe unspoken :icon_sile) rule?

Personally, the best music for my ears in live is the sounds of the chips and online I accompany myself with music, but I also play without it. As for the possibility of listening to live music, it depends on the casino. At those tables where you have to talk every time you bet to say the amount of it, you are less likely to find people with headphones. On the contrary, when you don't have to use your voice, you will see more headphones in the room.
Greetings.

I do not think it is convenient to use headphones in live poker, you are playing with live people and if you have headphones on it seems disrespectful to the other players.

I believe is a good way to miss a lot of information while you play. After all this is a game of information and is not a wise choice IMO, however... it can be good while you are grinding in huge series and playing several tournaments with a bunch of fishes in the early stages.

I don't recommend to use headphones if you are going to play the 50K Poker Players Championship or in a Main Event deep run for example.

As live poker player, I do not recommend to use headphones. It distracts a lot and also music may affect your emotions ergo you can be more aggressive in betting patterns when you listen to rock/metal/hard rock and vice versa with slower/relacing music. Also, using classic headphones can cause cerumen impaction and leads to tinnitus (personal experience). Also, using headphones may give the information to your opponents: listening to the music= not vigilant/attentive. Usually, people with headphones do not relly on live tells.

If I use headphones when playing poker, it's to concentrate on the game, only....ie, listening to the sounds of the game I'm playing,

Listening to anything other than that, is a distraction, even if the headphones are used to learning about poker. If you're doing it, while playing, you can't concentrate on the game you're currently playing.

Wow, that's surprisingly deep.
You reminded me how I used to eavesdrop on people's conversations while pretend that I'm listening music

By the way, I don't know what to say about this in a live tournament! I think it is not allowed.

If someone annoyed you at the table then headphones can help you to focus on the table otherwise I wouldn’t wear them

I think that to you play live poker, you need to be hight concentration to play more fast and well.
If you are listening music, you lose the concentration. Its more fun, more it is dangerous for your play in the tournaiment.

I do that as well :D And when im listening to music its either half volume so i still hear speech, or I folded already and the other's play is small-ball, then I am blasting volume a bit more.
