Not quite sure where to post but here seems ok [emoji3]
So, I'm heading to Egypt after a long awaited visa, waiting for Ramadan to close out, late May to try to run it up on the live felt, 2nd trip in East Africa.
Going to try to satellite into a $1k buyin $25k guaranteed tourney at Casino Barriere, doesn't look they have cash games running in Cairo atm but will check, then head to Sharm el sheikh which is a coastal resort area to play $50 buy-in with $50 add on tournament for $1.5k guaranteed daily tournaments & $5/5 cash games. My visa ends at July 21 BUT I've got a 30 day visa which I guess means I can't stay longer than 30 days so can't stay that long but trying to fit in everything in a month.
Never been to Egypt so this will be an experience. Poker has made it possible for me to venture out to my neighbouring countries & observe new cultures & people. Will be my 2nd trip after Kenya which was a very good learning experience but not so profitable as is the risk playing on a small bankroll. Much to my chagrin, still going with a small bankroll, which I should keep in mind if I find any big games but they say, you can't wait forever to take the perfect shot so I'm going for it!!! Just got the cardschat App on my phone, I'll try to post as much as possible regarding the inevitable ups & downs here on this thread, (hopefully it sticks lol) I'll also update my instagram which is azariyaethio_poker which I've barely used but I'm trying to make only Poker related content or azariyainaddis, my main profile.
Any tips would be appreciated by anyone who has travelled/played with a small bankroll facing maniac live players as the Egyptians are touted to be [emoji15][emoji54][emoji16] or anything in general, related to my endeavour.
If I have to set a number as a goal it would be $10,000 but I'll also be ok with getting back in the black after travel expenses. [emoji4]

Doing well at the tables will probably be icing on the cake...travel is its own reward, as you mentioned from your trip to Kenya. Enjoy the trip and good luck at the tables.

Been here for 2 weeks now. It's pretty dry here when it's Ramadan. Waiting anxiously for the 1k & minimum # of players show up.

Finally got to Sharm el sheik after 2 weeks doing not much in Cairo.
There's basically one casino here so that's my problem. Busting early & finding the cash tables full with the same players.

Also, in sharm, I'm currently playing 1/2$ & $50( effectively $100) tournament with approx. 18 players

Guess I should've played the tournament tonight.
Had a soul crushing session, down 4 buy-ins, -$800, bought in for 2 buy-ins each time.
Hanging by a thread.
Going with a 1 buy-in tomorrow or may take a break rather than going with 2 buy-ins again, should be for the best!

Feel like the whale, after my big cash loss all the "whales" skipped town, now all I have is tournaments.
Bankroll is dwindling down, came close today, was at the final table called a shove with QQ only to bE called with KK & A10, A on the flop. In for 2 bullets.
This threads looking more like a bad beat thread smh
Gonna try again tomorrow, 3 days left in Sharm, gonna keep going for the $700 1st prize vs nits. Forgot how nitty small tourneys were.
GL me!

On the Cardschat app got stuck halfway while typing when I clicked on the other chat in the thread.
Anyway, this is a mid game update at break. Time to eat

I'm just wondering what the cash games are like in Egypt but there isn't much recent info I can find online. Do they have $5-5 and $5-10 running there these days? I've heard the games are soft but rake is horrendous. I want to visit Egypt some time for a holiday anyway but it would be extra good if the poker is good there for when I visit too :D

Iffy 5/5 & $50 buy-in daily tournaments. Very seasonal so pick your timing, tournaments are soft but cash not so much.

In Sharm El Sheikh casino empty, especially now when the Russian there almost do not fly. There is a casino on the outskirts of the city closer to the airport, but there are people only on weekends playing cash 5/5. Of budget attractions a walk on the island the Tyrant, Safari buggy or Quad bike, go-karting. In the evening or at night, when it is not so hot you can walk through their old famous market.

Well, of course the most beautiful sea in the world.

Trip is officially over for a great loss. Going to keep it online for now, traveling + poker with a small edge isn't worth it. Seeing a new country making new friends is an experience still but not a priority when looking to get back in the green. Hope this helps someone. Ask me anything if planning a poker trip, made 2.
