Hi guys, have you encountered cheating in live games? Such as someone hiding a card, or the deck being tampered with special ink?

I play live games only during some series from well-known rooms.

I've only really played live games with friends, and not for any really large amounts of money. Basically the money that we either won or lost usually (by unspoken agreement) was the start of the collective round pot the next time we went down the pub.

The one time I've played live in a casino, and all the times I've seen live poker, I don't think there was any cheating. It would be remiss to say that cheating in live poker doesn't happen, but I would imagine that if you were playing at a casino, the odds of someone (successfully) cheating would be pretty low.

Never actually caught anyone, but one time at the Gold Coast Casino in Vegas, I had a good dealer. Someone brought up dealing from the bottom of the deck (not in a bitchy way) and the dealer asked the rest of us if we minded taking a quick time out. We all were mostly just having a good time, so nobody said no. He just wanted to challenge us to see if we could catch him dealing incorrectly. He even called the pit boss over and cleared it with him first. He was damn good, that's for sure. Admittedly, when i play ring at a casino, i'm there for fun, so i'm drinking, so take that into consideration from my end. Only 2 guys said they could tell when he dealt from anywhere from the top, and he said only 1 of them was right. The pit boss could tell (well, no shit right?) every time and dealer confirmed. Was a cool experience and I could only tell how/when he did it when he slowed it way down and had us lean in.

So, when i play live, i kinda check for it, but figure if they're actually good at it, i'm not likely to catch em. Only brought this up as I thought it was a cool experience.

While playing the $1/2 NL table live late one weekend night I had one semi drunk stand up to lean at the flop from the 7 seat with both hands on the felt while I'm in the 8 seat. He decides to take like $2-3 of my chips with his left hand. I told him what he did so he wouldn't say something stupid like "what are you talking about" and he quickly apologized and we laughed.

Never had anything shady go at the table though, the casinos don't want cheats in their game because its their reputation on the line. If folks think they're going to get cheated then they won't play there so that'll cut into their money. We've all seen Casino with DeNiro right? lol

But if you ever feel like something is going on then quit or just move to another table. I've done that when groups of folks come to a table (and I'm not talking about a couple but lots of folks) that suddenly appear at my table and seem too buddy, buddy to one another for my liking. And if you decide to say something then I would suggest doing it quietly and away from that table.

theres much slyer methods out there
such as marking the card with the slightest dent

bottom dealing
a good bottom dealer you won't catch

dealer can peek cards almost unnoticed

3rd party spies peeking your cards from a distance
