NOT FOR LUCK, FOR SAFETY

I use a Zippo lighter since it's something that I always carry with me.
I'm surprised a card room would let you use a Zippo, they can leak on the cards, not a good thing. For all of you "players" that think they are too good to express their own personal style by not using a Card guard. All I can say is bad things are in your future. GUARANTEED! I've seen and heard of it thousands of time, in fact, I started making CPs because I got mucked by accident in the middle of a hand. I made one for myself to protect against that happening again. Then every table I played on, someone would ask about it, "Where did you get that?" I made it, "Really can you make me one?" So a friend and I are in a sit n go, an older lady asked to see my CP, shes like "can you make anything you want?" I guess so. "Could you make me 20 that say Holdem Slutpuppies' Poker Club on them?" I'm sure I could but they'd be about $40 each. "Do I pay you now?" ($$$$$$ Sure that works I'll get you a receipt!) My friend says "Man you might be on to something here." You should ask the casino if you can set up a table." So I did and they said Yes!. For the next tournament, which was 2 months away. I spent the next 2 months making CPs, I set up a table on Thursday afternoon, the first day of the event, By 10 pm I sold so many I thought I was going to run out. I'm like Cha-Ching$$! that was 11 years ago and I'm sure many of you have seen my display in casinos all over the USA from Coast to Coast. I've done WSOP, WSOPC, WPT, HPT, and others. I'm retired from tournament display now but still make custom items for Clubs, Companies, Special Customers, they're not bad for you. And they're not for Luck unless you want them to be lol. Have fun At the Felt All.

I have been playing live poker lately and I haven't had a unique card protector while I am playing. Actually, I have used from a small toy to simple ring. For many players card protectors are a good luck charm.
What do you use as card protector?

i use in casino chip from another one casino(i have some with me anytime )

I'd like to have a small jedi or sith holocron.
I currently use a custom made poker chip with a picture of my granddaughter on one side and my dog on the other.

Hihi, this reminds me somehow of old pkr room. There you could buy some charms for the fun and your points of course.

Therefore is now my question: Did anyone of you see someone bringing a pot plant as a charm to the table?

I started using card protector after reading this thread and in fact it helps to show to everyone that you are still in the game even at home game. For now i use just a chip but in future i may get better one.

I tried playing with a card protector but I was drawing more attention to myself than I wanted.

Funny thing about Card Guards

I make Card Guards for the poker world and have for 12 years, All by me, by hand. It started when I got mucked by accident sitting in the 6 seat, guy tossed his cards at the muck pile, they bounced off and hit my cards laying in front of me!!! They killed my hand. I made my first one that day. And never looked back My parents were not the most educated folks at that age and baby boomer years. In those days kids followed their parents' thou life. Learning to Fish, hunt, planet crops whatever their parents did. So I did the same things. My dad was USAF. So I joined the AF, di that for a term then got out, but over the last 50 years, I've worn many hats. A door to door salesman, car sales, mobile homes, farm hand, janitor, carpenter,
mechanic, plumber, and so on.
So now I'm an Artist and I've noticed over the years that I can join a table and no one will be using a card guard, of course I always put one or two out then a while later I see card guards on the table like no one wants to be the first one to show one. lol Like At the school dance, everybody is waiting for someone else to dance first. to funny.

More photos of card guards for you to enjoy.

Just so you know what you're looking at. I use all semi-precious stones like Black tourmaline, lapis, mother of pearl, hemalyke, howelite, tiger eye and so on. Some are done on doubled stack chips some on Gold clad fluted edged disc. Some are real gold silver and jewels. Enjoy This 4th one is a side view of the one about it.

Card protector? Yep!

I don't play live either, so I was wondering why people use card protectors. This video cleared that up for me.

Why You Need a Card Guard!! - YouTube

I remember seeing this on the ESPN broadcast. Terrible luck for her. Also why I always use a chip as a card protector.

Some people use "good luck" charms as card protectors. If that works for them, great. Personally, I just don't want my cards to be mucked unless I am ready to muck them.

Also, I have heard poker players discussing how, if they wanted to, they could muck their cards into someone else's unprotected cards to force the dealer to muck both hands. Definitely unethical but a real possibility.

I think it's best to protect!

Bro A chip is not very dependable but better then nothing I guess. And yes its smart to stay protected.

I'll have to upload a picture of my card protector on here. I can't even explain it but I use it mainly so a dealer doesn't rake in my cards while I have the goods (or bluffing). I suppose I use it for luck as well but my definition of luck is avoiding unluckiness.

I do not use any at the moment and I do not intend to use them, unless of some problem as happened in a live in which the dealer took the cards (AA) of the player ...

I think it's silly to believe in a piece of iron, wood, stone ...)))
LupuAnatolie, while using an item as a card protector as a lucky charm may very well be “SILLY”
There is absolutely nothing silly about using an item to protect your cards against accidental dealer inter-actions on killing your hand, as has been proven in the past to be real unfortunate possibilities.

As for my personal card protector....... either my left hand palmed down or left fist ready to pounce on any dealer trying to take my cards...... lol....lol....lol

My name is Joy and I have this polished quartz rock with the word Joy carved into. I use this. It was a gift from a friend and I cherish it, but I don't think of it as a good luck charm.

That is what most female dealers say though a few do like it. :) If too creepy I ask if they would rather my man hand.

These both rank high on my "All Time" list of card protectors. They're a little big, but I get that they're life size. Possible improvement would be signs of violent dismemberment on the base of the fingers, wedding ring, or nail work on the man hand (realistic - not nail polish).

Ah yes, Many people have asked for "Luck" and BeiMoh that's exactly how I feel about luck, avoiding being unlucky! We've had many customers return telling how lucky they were but I'm sure that's short lived lol. As many have stopped by again and said well it didn't bring me any luck but I like it anyway. Once a guy got one from the display and during the tournament he returned, not kidding 5 times and traded it for another and another and another till finally he came out on break pretty deep in the event and said" Ok I'll keep this one. to funny right! but to each his own. I have customers that get a new one at every stop they attend, I'm at. Some have as many as 20 or more, one guy keeps them in a nicknack shadow box they are All Arkansas Razorback items each different than the other. and Bassgeye, I must agree those fingers are a bit big and creepy lol. But a large washer or rock from your driveway will work. As long as they have enough weight to stay in place and keep you safe is all that matters in the end. More photos ENJOY.

LOL, I think they creep the dealers out enough as it is. ;) I've had them over 35 years now and I've gotten everything from "creepy" to "I love it" to complete indifference. The only "luck" they bring is that my cards aren't molested while I'm playing them. :)
