Player A All in after flop
Called by B and C
Main pot in front of player A
Ace on the turn
Min raise by player B on turn causing side pot for B and C
River checked by both remaining players.

With me so far?

Player C declares a pair of Aces
Player A says cool i have a straight main pot is mine.
Player B cool i have 2 pairs side pot mine.
Player C then says oh no i have a flush, grabs all the chips and loads them into his stack before any discussion could take place.

So here is the thing,
Yes he did have the best hand but do you have to play what you declared?
There is no way he knew he had an Ace high flush as he checked the river.
I was player A, am i just being a bad loser?
It was a pub game. If it was in a casino what would the dealer have done.

Yea, just bad etiquette nothing against the rules.

A lot of people do this to angle shoot, but generally announce a stronger hand than they really have to see if the other players will muck their hands awarding them the pot in this instance it doesn't matter anyways because all hands must be tabled.

However because people angle shoot it's a good lesson as to why you should always table your hand.

It's a bar game so it doesn't surprise me that lack of attention during the game is happening. I wouldn't be upset if I were you I'm sure it wasn't out of malice, the player may of simply not been paying attention.

If it was a tournament game at the casino the dealer would have asked for players B and C to table their hand first and award side pot for B and C then have remaining players table their hands rewarding the main pot, all cards would have to be exposed because it is an all in.

If it was a cash game it would be a similar awarding of the pots only difference would be hands don't have to be exposed.

ive seen something similar happen at sugarhouse casino in philly. It was a headsup pot tho. After river action is complete, Player A announces "i have 2 pair". Player B then throws his pair of aces into the muck, then player A turns over his pocket 3's and player B goes into a rage because he threw away his winning hand.

Floor was called over and they decided to give the pot to Player B because Player A has a history of angle shooting alot.

Im not entirely sure what the rules are on announcing a different hand than what you have, but its pretty scummy nonetheless.

I think in this situation it is not even bad ettiquete, since he seemed to made a sincere mistake (not betting the river..).

don't believe everything you "hear", or even sometimes "see". :)

Agreed...don't listen to what people are "saying" as much as perhaps the cards they are playing>>LOL Plus, at sites like ACR, you can't even be too sure what you're "seeing" at times...people play the weirdest cards to flops and chase out the weakest hands with NO OUTS, etc...go all in with no outs to my high pair flopped and then they catch a river match over card and beat my pair...why did they bet? Does it matter how MUCH, or what POSITION they were in?>>>NOPE!!!>>They'll just make willy nilly TOTAL GUESSER bets in there...sad thing is though...they'll win 80% of those hands by getting THEIR card!

I never grab any chips that are on the table. I always wait for the dealer to give them to me. If there is ever a discussion that needs to be made over the rules or anything like that, the dealer calls the floor manager.
I don't play freerolls in bars anymore. I've had too many bad experiences.

In Niagara Falls there was a game at one of the casino's where one fellow and his buddy had a habit of slow rolling their wins and both were found the next day in a dumpster. There are people who take etiquette seriously.

yeah its very bad etiquette its the exact same thing as slow rolling someone with the nuts. It happened to me with the second nut flush in a huge pot a few weeks ago.
