Anyone out there actually target bad beat jackpots to try to win them? If so, do you have any strategies other than play lots of hours? I'm assuming there are people who target bad beat jackpots, I just never heard of any of them or gotten advice from any.

You have to get extremely lucky. That's it. There is no strategy involved. Just luck, and being there when it happens. I suppose you can't win one if you dont play...... so yeah. Gotta play.

It depends on my bankroll. If I have a few hundred on I'll sit down at the 1$ cash game tables which offer them in high hopes it hits. I've seen a full house lose to quads where we were one card away from hitting it, but I've yet to be on any tables when the jackpot has hit.

My bankroll is too small right now to be sittinng on those tables though

You need to play a lot of hands to beat them, cause you need to find an especifically spot that is not easy.

Apparently you can't force it to happen.

All you can do is play cards that fit the qualifying hands for that poker room.

For example: Quads beat means you can play any pair...and suited connectors for the straight flush and hope your opponent has quads.

I have also seen the table fold around to the SB and he asks the BB if he has anything and the BB looks and says, "I can play." and then they check it down to the river just trying to hit. I have never seen this work...but I see the blinds do this frequently.

Good luck !

One good strategy is register 10 minutes before the late registration ends.

Just right time and situation I guess - more you play the more chance of it’s happening -

I DID THINK THOUGH 🤔
maybe find a rake free game in a casino - usually weekday(my casino does this) and get 9 mates to all play hogging the table

And all play every hand and check it all the way down
and just give money stack back at end of night so neither have lost

Only when the jackpot is high and there are other incentives like AA cracked..etc.. but these are usually in casinos. Online the rake is way too high in these games but if you have +EV and the jackpot high enough then multi table and put in the time....but look at the opportunity cost. I have done this sporadically. When UB was around I was never at the winning table but I was playing the JP games and won a bit of the pot more than a few times.

A bad beat jackpot is when a casino sets a bounty on an incredibly bad beat happening. For instance, our casino is if Quads lose to another Quad or higher you win the jackpot. it's incredibly difficult to hit, but it gets upwards of $150,000 the last time before it was caught. usually the person who got beat gets a high % and then the rest of the table shares a %.

There was a huge bad beat payout at my local casino recently and the rule is there is no talking, no discussion about hand action whatsoever or the hand can be nullified. I'm not sure if this applies at every casino but they are real sticklers about this kind of thing where I play.

Came close one time. I had quad 2's vs set of A's on the turn. Needed the last Ace on the river for the $268,000 bad bet pot.
:9c4: on river. :hmpf:

At this place also. But please note....no mention of the words "bad beat" or "jackpot".

Most places are sticklers (nice use of the word) because the casino doesn't want to be colluded against.

Good luck !

Turn was 10♠️! I turned a Royal Flush. I was getting action as well
Heads up against J ♥️J ♦️
The river was Q ♦️
He need a quad for the bad beat jackpot.

It's very hard to hit. I keep playing suited connectors and pocket pairs in hopes of hitting it, but it doesn't happen. In Montreal they only hit it twice a year, you can imagine what the odds are. What I find funny is that most casinos in Vegas don't have one, a few years ago, maybe 3-4 they had started to have a bad beat at the Venitian. Still no bad beat at the rest of them.

New Orleans Harrah's has a few, Niagara Falls Seneca...
I was beaten by quads when I had a full house...but I didn't go all in so I was able to survive and then some. My suggestions, play early when most of these Bad Beat jackpots and other prizes like catching a Royal etc... are around and before they start falling one by one. During this time play your cards to win but if you have a chance at major money in the BB and others then go for it. Second, plan to make a day of it if you can.

There's no strategy per se but definitely guidelines to follow to not miss any of your chances of hitting the BBJ.

Make sure you understand all the rules surrounding the BBJ (i.e. you know what the valid qualifying hands are and the minimum size of the pot as well as any other possible stipulations about how many players must be at the table, etc).

One thing you should remember is you don't want to chop the blinds if you have a suited connector or pair that could form a bad beat hand (you should always ask the BB if they have a BBJ hand before deciding to split).

Also try to avoid taking constant breaks! It's happened that people have missed their table share from being absent when the jackpot hits!

I wouldn't hunt the jackpot. The casino does not set a reward for losing at a loss. I think this is the way to ruin

Was in a hand with player flop quad QQ. He donkbet only like 20% pot which was really unusual everyone folded. He the classic player who overbet weak and bets light with a monster so everyone on at table knew he likely big hand. The flop was QQ10 two spades and I had KJ spades
He made thin bets all the way to the river thinking he will trap me and I called hopping to catch a spade No spade came out. But it would be a bad beat jackpot with I hit my straight flush. I would have folded if he made pot size bet but he priced me in unknownly.

PLEASE NO ONE TRY THIS.

The casino will notice and at the very least ban you, if not charge you all with a crime.

Which colluding to win a jackpot is.

DO NOT TRY THIS.

You do not even have to hit the jackpot for the casino to arrest you. You just have to be on video trying to do it.

Thank U 4 Posting.

Anytime you are in a jackpot game you should be thinking of the hands that could win you a jackpot if you are playing in low stakes games. It is very seldom that you would change your play but it may be worth checking a hand were a miracle card might win the jackpot. Remember though 2 cards have to play.

Example
You have quads on the turn and there is a gut shot straight flush possibility. 3 players in, the hand is checked to you. You may not want to bet even if you should bet, to build the pot to get stacks in on the river.

In a 1-2 game stacks are seldom more than 500. Losing the hand could mean 25k. You would hate to bet and have the guy with the gut shot to a straight flush fold the turn.

Hope this helps.

In the casino in Niagara Falls, NY, the higher the bad beat pot goes, the fewer $2-5 or $5-10 tables...everybody wants to play a SLOW $1-2 table. It is very hard to get a table without waiting over an hour...the place is so mobbed. And yes, everyone plays very conservatively. The pot must be over $20 in order to qualify, so players can't just put in the blinds and check it down.
