I've only just begun playing online. I've cashed quite a few times including 23rd in an £11 mtt but I'm definitely out of pocket. There's plenty left to learn and I'm not even sure where to start.

I’m always in profit as I’ve never deposited a cent on any poker site. I’ve built my bankroll through freerolls which I then use to buy in to bigger tournaments. Granted I’ll never make a living, or any real money, but it’s free entertainment. Thanks to CardsChat for most of that freeroll winnings.

Since I started playing poker, until now I have made profits, and without depositing anything, now I have an acceptable bank to play poker, I have never had to take courses to be a winner, of course it always helps but I am characterized by having my own strategies and methods to understand the game to the millimeter, but I think that makes anyone a winner, we must be persistent to achieve it,
I have not had losses because my balance was always positive.

I'm sure there is some research out there, but I would be very curious to the amount of online players that are actually making $$$. I played quite a bit about 12-15 years ago and admittedly got lucky and won a couple of big tourneys (one for $41K)... It didn't take me too long to give it all back plus some. Not so much for poor play, but poor bankroll management. I was playing WAY too high stakes and had a bad run of heads up matches.

Like anything, I imagine it takes great discipline, time commitment, and hard work (study, adapt, etc.) to truly make money. But I'm sure there are quite a few out there that take advantage of those undisciplined folks (like myself).

I'm back to freerolls and will try to build a small bankroll as I am not going to be depositing any $$$ for the foreseeable future. I imagine with Covid, there are a lot more folks jumping in, which is probably a huge opportunity for the more advanced and disciplined players.

Good luck all.

Mental stamina is a huge key factor in success, Always balance your poker playing with equivalent activities, if it be time with friends and family or recreational time at the gym. what ever you can do to keep yourself motivated to win while following Bank Roll Management and focusing on studying strategy, poker books, PT4 hand replays will keep your balance close to positive i reckon!

I have never really deposited due to the complexity of doing it in my country. So I can say that I have not lost money, quite the contrary.

poker profitability

Currently I am earning no profit from playing poker... I have lost thousands of dollars and I still keep making mistakes in the cash game online.... Now I understand the game better than before thanks to my losing experiences... When I started playing I earned hundreds of dollars in profit in live cash game but then went on a bad streak mainly because I started making bad plays...

Winning

I remember the first time I played in a brick and mortar casino. It was the early 80s, a 2/4 limit Hold'em game. I had no long term strategy, and I dominated the game while playing the most ridiculous hands. Won hundreds of dollars.

After losing during my next 2 visits, I invested in every poker book I could find. Read them all, tightened up my game and started winning more consistently. Over several years I worked my way up the ladder until I had enough payroll to play in the 15/30 games which was the highest level games they had, and that size game was seldom in play. I usually ended up playing in the 10/20 games and maybe 2 or 3 times a month a 15/30 game would be in play.

So, to answer your question, I started winning consistently early, after about the second month. That's not to say I didn't suffer bad beats and losing streaks, but overall my bankroll improved until I
started living off the winnings and began
traveling in search of bigger games. Made enough to support a 6 member family in comfort for several years. Then disaster struck, which had nothing to do with playing poker.

I switched to no-limit when I started playing online. Hey, when in Rome.

It didn't take me long to start building my bankrolls again, but I already had the basics down from when I played limit.

It´s still even getting up in total in my case.
Anyway, I lost many times when I started.
Because I couldn´t controll me.
Now, I´m better than before.

Winning

I start playing around 2003. For 2 years i was earning a lot of money from my job so i was "gambling" around 50$ per day.. Of course i was a loser cause i had no idea about the game.. 2005 i saw for the first time the wsop main event and I said 'Lets do it right" So bought some books and my mindset changed a lot. . I Said i will deposit 500$ for only one time and try my best.. I had a lot of cashes but I won only one online tour close to 2000$ with 2.2$ and i play with those money till now... Online im losing more than 1.000$ but of course i withdraw the profit (1500) the first time and invest in live tournaments.. total i have like 8000 profit. Its not enough of course to make living but i want stability.Never said that this will be my job. ufortunately i didnt make it online.. (Sorry for my english, its not my native language)

I have always made gace profits at the frerroll. but for a year or more I had a bad habit of losing everything on sports betting or roulette. I think if I had better manage my banckroll. I will have managed to save at least $ 1000. but recently, I decided not to waste my profits anymore and to build a good banckroll with my frerroll winnings and on low buy-in games on Sit and Go. in 21 days I won $ 71 and I am motivate to actually start generating profit in poker.

I have been playing for many years and the truth is that I have never made a profit and my losses are moderately low, I have obtained money through transfers. Like other players in my country, you cannot make deposits and even less withdrawals. I always have faith that life can surprise me

Always been a winner, even as a casual player I was making profits although I never have kept track, I just know I withdraw more then I deposit. many sites I never have to deposit because If I leave and come back I might just freeroll a bankroll again, its easy enough to get the feel again that way.

I have just started playing more seriously, and have been playing the daily 0.25 free Spin&Gold at GG Poker + pokerstars free rolls.
Been doing quite well at the GG Poker's free spin, it's free so if you win it's pure profit.
On PokerStars free rolls, ended ITM in one, have played like 6 maybe?
I would like to build a bankroll from scratch while learning in the process. Once I get to a decent amount, would consider playing for more profit in the long run.
