Say you have pocket 8s. And the flop comes

10 of spades 9 of spades 3 of hearts.

your opponent shoves all in and shows you OJ of spades. Do you call? or do you fold ? Asking because this happend in a home game and I was curious to see what others would do.

I stand corrected, after thinking about it, you are the dog. He has 3 Qs - 3 Js - 4 Ks - 2 8s - 7 spades--- (assuming you do not have the 8 of spades. If you do however, you only drop his number of outs (19) by 1.

Do you have the 8 of spades?

Is this on the flop or turn? On the flop he is the favorite due to having 2 shots at the deck, on the turn you would be in better shape but still only like 2.5:1 favorite.

It depends on where your are in the tournament and how much information you have on your opponent. All things else being equal, I think I could find a fold, here.

Depends on how they have been playing but if it is for my tournament life I will find a fold perhaps more often than a call.

Hello in this case I would fold since it is very likely that he will get the diamond that he needs for his color since there are 2 cards that would be needed to complete the table and he has a good chance of getting a Diamond more.

Calling here is like tourney suicide.

:DThe only way I would have even consider calling here is if you have him covered by at least 2 stacks. If you don't have him covered I wouldn't even consider it.

By OJ do you mean QJ of spades ?

If is it lets analise how many outs he has.

he is on a flush drawn(9), straight drawn( 3- lets put only the kings minus king of spades because 8 gives you three of a kind and possible full house) has tow over cards(6) how beats your pair. what gives him 18 outs, like there is 2 more streets we multiple by 4 he's equity is 72% in an poker calculator a got 65% what is pretty close.

having this equity in mind you only have 35% of chance to win this hand, than to be on a EV+ you should call in the same probability of stacks what is probable not happening.

It depends on stack sizes, pot size and if you have 8 of spades or not.

I never chase a straight if someone is chasing a flush. I mean there are probably 8 cards to make their flush and 4 cards to chase an inside straight.

You are not even chasing a straight here...

It depends on the stack sizings, however, in most cases I think this is an easy fold. Any 4Ks 3Qs 3Js 7/8 to make the spade flush.

I think it's better to fold your cards Because the chances of winning are very small compared with the rival's chances of winning the pot
The best solution is to fold:)
