This is a discussion on when should you move stakes within the online poker forums, in the Learning Poker section; I've been playing 1-2, 1-3 for a while. I was wondering when should someone move up in stakes? I've heard it depends on bankroll, I
Basically all bankroll management articles/guides talk about it. Depending on whether you can spare the money or are confident in your play, you can go up in stakes once you have 30-100 times your bankroll. 30 being riskful, 100 being safe.
You can however, take shots when you havr less than this amount of buyins. The consensus is that the higher stakes you play, the better the competition will be. Taking shots makes you experience the next level of play without risking your bankroll. You should follow these rules when taking shots:
1) go back to your normal stakes when you finished taking the shot even if you win.
2) do not try to make up for losses by taking another shot!
The key behind moving up stakes is basically: have a large enough bankroll where if you lose it doesnt hurt it.
