What are the basic rules and terms like 3 bet?

I know the basic idea of which kind of cards wins over which kind of cards. Apart from that I really don't know much about poker. Is there any basic set of rule that I should be aware of? And I have have heard the term like 3-bet 4-bet and 5-bet. What does these term refer to?

I am kind of new to the world of poker. So, I would like as much information as possible.

A 3-bet means the third bet on a given betting round. Preflop the first bet is a player posting the big blind, which is a forced bet. Someone raising that up is putting in the second bet, and someone raising that bet is putting in the third bet or 3-bet. Example: It folds around to CO, who makes a raise to 2,5BB. BTN folds, and now SB makes it 10BB to go. This is a 3-bet. BB now folds, and action is back on CO, who makes it 25BB to go. This is then a 4-bet.
