This is a discussion on Two pair, how to play? within the online poker forums, in the Learning Poker section; two pairs is considered to be a strong made hand, but always when I have it play I do not win.Goi in ollyn or re-raise,
It depends on which two pair. If bottom two, then opponent (with top pair only) could hit his second pair or even the board could pair (which again would give him a better two pair. I have found that in this situation (on the flop when I get two pair), I bet very aggressively on the flop, but will adjust turn and river depending on what comes out.
If I have top two pair, then I will not play so agressively, hope opponent makes his second pair, and then call his big bets.
Two pairs in poker is a pretty strong combination, with which you can win good Bank,
The resistance must consider the strength and style of your opponents and the size of the raise and the stack sizes of your opponent.
I always become aggressive whenever I have a two pair. I always rise and call since I know in my self I might win this because of my pair. But their are time that even I have a two pair but I think the others are higher than me I just call.
If I flop two pair online I know I am in trouble. I have a rule that if I flop two pair on ACR I will lose. Specially if there is a part of a flush or straight. I can honestly say I haven't won any two pairs that come out on a flop. If I get the second pair on the turn or river it's a different game.
Even tho I know there going to lose I play them strong. Because the odds are dose to be in my favor. I will always make you pay for a drawing hand no matter what. That good poker.
If your opponent re-raise your bet on turn or river, you should to think that he has stronger combination then you. Also it's depends vs which opponent you play. Tight players have few bluff at turn and river. You can catch the bluff if opponent is more risky.
Need to be careful with two pairs. How big are your pairs, and are there chances of trips? What are the odds of straight / flush on the table? Don't overplay the two pair, but try to get a sense of how good your opponent's hand is and bet accordingly.
two pairs is almost a victory, it all depends as always on the position in which you are and how the players came to the end of the hand, always analyze, two pairs is 50 percent of your winnings!not always with any card you will be on top, think, learn, and everything will be fine!good luck!!!
