Need some advice. I'll win a few dollars from playing the micro tourneys and once I build up a small bank roll I'll moved to the cash tables. Been doing that for a while but have never been a consistent winner at the cash table. But unlike tourneys I can stop and go as i please. But I know it's a serious leak for me.
Problem is I do well and get a allot of small pots. Then I'll get creamed by a cooler. Seems like I run into coolers all the time. Hard too get away when that river hits in their favor. But if you don't work it to the river you losing allot of chips. I just can't figure out why my tourney play is working but my cash game isn't. Help.

I, too, am still a huge fish at cash but feel like I'm getting kinda OK at tournaments.

Question - why are you playing cash? Why not play micro MTTs / SnGs?

One of the reasons for this situation is that in tournaments players are more likely to go "to the end". After all, it makes no sense to remain with a very short stack. Therefore, getting a good hand, you will often be paid on the river than in the cash tables. Perhaps this concerns only cheap tournaments and freerolls. But it is.

Think i am in the same boat as you. Can find a way into the money in tournaments but cash games leak out the winnings i just won.

The games are played differently and honestly if you want to get half decent at one form then it is best to stick to that one format as opposed to mixing the two. What I would suggest is to stick with one format for a few months before messing with the other... and even then only stick to one format for a period of time. Playing both will keep you from getting good at either... at least not until you are very experienced. Also, cash game is generally much tougher than micro tournament play.

could u go into why tournament isn't as tough as cash? More experienced people playing much tighter/many that play for their living even, so they dont want to mess up is my guess?
But i'm just guessing based on the loosiness I see on extremely low-stake tournaments

to win the cash game ・・・

The capacity which is to the extent you win the championship in a micro tournament 5 times a week, is needed to win the cash game.
