Hi everyone
I was playing a poker tournament yesterday and started with 20000 chips. i played tight and won a few hands making my stack around 30000 plus chips. When i was in the button, I got pocket 8s. Everyone limped infront of me and i raised 3x the big blind which was 600. Small bind called and utg called. Flop turn out to be 2 3 4 rainbow. UTG went all in with a bigger stack than mine. My thought process goes as follows.
He does not have AA KK AK or big picture cards as he did not raise utg. He probably does not have 22 33 44 as he called my raise which i would have folded following a raise. The only thing he can beat me with is 5 6. I think that he had speculative hands like 5 7, 6,7 which might lead into a straight and he wants to bet on the odds. I mean if you have a nut straight why would you not want to slow play and extract as much as you can.
