I have a few tips for beginners just startin out at poker
1. Only play big hands, do not play suited connectors in a small pot.
2. Make sure your average raise is 5 times the Big Blind, This will increase the pot size and lessen the chance of being outplayed
3. go all in or fold when under 20 Big Blinds
4. If you hit a flop bet the pot size, this will minimize their likelihood of calling and stop them calling with a draw.
basically when you are a beginner you only want to be playing big pot poker, if you play small pot poker and you do not know what your'e doing after the flop, there is a big chance you will miss and get pushed off hands easily and will be unsure what to do against a bet into you when you have say middle pair.
