Sometimes you don't realize you have tilted until your stack is all gone, perfect time to walk away.

Many years ago, I saw a guy desperately running to find a bank machine in a casino and I thought about asking if he wanted to get a coffee and take a break. At the time, I thought it was better to mind my own business; but now that I think about it, maybe I should have.

The look on his face was as panicked as I have seen anyone in a long time, so it has stuck in my mind. So if I ever feel myself getting a little too emotional, I try to remember that guy and not continue buying in until I have taken a break.

It is very easy actually - if you have a PROPER bankroll management. If you have it, your loses mean less to you and you can maintain the focus.

Steel nerves, iron discipline and no emotions are the only solution to fighting tilt!

I have said it before. If you are on a bad streak take a break. Especially if you are on tilt. You will never win with a negative mindset. Shrug bad beats off . If they affect you, go take a drink, or a walk. If very bad, take a week off and breathe some fresh air.

I think the best move in this situation is to take a break and forget completely about the game. Also, when you come back to play I think it's important to set a limit of money that you can afford to lose per day.

I can give you some other advise than the others here. Most of us will tell you that the best tip is to take a long break and not to play for weeks or months. I think that this is for people with very weak mentality, for people who can not overcome problems. Try to be from the others. Try to play without putting any target for reaching some kind of money, try not to think how many dollars you have in the cashier, try to analyze your bad plays or mistakes. Taking a long break without have in mind about poker is not the decision. After some time you will return and it will happen the same, because you have not done anything to improve your current form.

If your thought process is very logical and mathematically based you may find it more difficult to deal with the never ending pain and anguish poker will deliver.

The more you play the more you may become numb to its effects.

Hello.
I do not have such problems. I play poker, not bingo, so I try to be patient, play only with strong cards. Thanks to this, I always easily control my emotions, follow the bankroll management and enjoy the game.

Have a bankroll at least 100x your buy in. That way when you lose a buy in you lose no more than 1% of your bankroll.

This is a very complicated question to answer I try to spend at least 2 days without playing and when I go back to the game I try to change the mood a little I put my songs that I like and start very slowly without attacking too much

Thanks for sharing that story- sad though it is.

I am not a classic gambler and do not really tilt. I just endure a momentary anger which does not really affect my next play. It is good to realize others get caught in a moment which ends with dire consequences.

Any anecdote which will make people look inwards and analyse how badly they do or do not tilt is worth retelling.

bankroll management is very important, ups and downs you will always have but that is why you should not stop playing, when I play very well and accumulate defeats it does not cause me a bad feeling, it is part of the game, the important thing is to stay disciplined and continue to focus on your game. Entering tilt is a problem and makes it clear that the person's future is not in poker, it is worth experiencing it but learning from it and never repeating it:jd4::jd4::jd4::jd4:

this might not work for everyone, but what helped me is to understand what to expect when i play mtts and, therefore, it's not a surprise.

my itm is ~20%, which means i will cash in 20/100 mtts i play. while going 80 mtts without a significant cash would suck, it's not impossible. and i've accepted that.

understanding equity is big as well. once i understood my equity vs opponent(s) equity, in any situation, that made those losses easier to handle and got to the point where i'm not phased by it because it's all simple numbers. it's also important that equity differs in all-in preflop situations and post flop situations.

once i understood and accept how this workout in the long term, i stopped being bothered by anything. in fact, it's really hard for me to see anything as a bad beat. not saying there aren't such things, but i think it's more of a matter of perspective.

while someone might see losing with ak vs 34o when it's all in preflop and the opponent hits river a gutshot straight might see it as a bad beat as a 92% favorite, i see it as my opponent's 34% preflop equity getting there. or even if my opponent does call a turn bet/shove with 8% equity and hits, i don't see it as a bad beat. it see it as i'm winning 92% of the time. just because i lost in this particular hand doesn't matter in the long term. a) i'm not going to win every and and b) i don't need to win every hand. it's all about you +ev decision making and not the results. besides, i'm happy to lose to a 4 outer 8% of the time on the river.

Hello! Good branch, there is something to listen to, I have frequent problems with losing a bankroll for cache, so I often play tournaments. Sincerely, Sergey.
