I struggle to maintain a poker bankroll:
I can play all day and grind like a pro, but I don't know when to stop.
I play until I'm exhausted and then, before I fall asleep, I bet everything in all-in & fold.

Is this a common thing or is it unhealthy?

I think what I enjoy is the betting, not the winnings. Do you have any advice for me to remedy this?

I would say, time after time withdraw some money, and spend it to things like having a nice meal at a restaurant, buying some clothing or books, going out etc. And if you like those programmes, remember they come from poker. So your brain maybe process your successes as a helping-hand to hit some additional joys in your life from your earned poker cash, :)

I dont know how you can be using proper bankroll management and lose all your money in 1 hand, seems like you are not following proper bankroll management. If you had 40 buy-ins you would have to lose at least 40 hands. You should probably have 20-100 buy-ins depending on your win rate, if you are losing- you should error toward the 100 buy-ins.

The first thing I will recommend is to control the times, start and end times, the exact time you will stop is difficult to know, it depends a lot on how far you go in the tournament, but you should already know the time that the tournaments that you practice takes, so choose them well and choose the time of your last registration, so you will know, more or less the time it will end, this is very important, it will prevent you from getting tired, remember, plans are very important.

If in the end you give it all in with anything, breaking the rules, it's certainly not healthy and will hurt your bankroll a lot.

Control this and I believe it will already improve a lot.

This is potentially fairly common. But not with most players here on CC.

However it is definitely not healthy. This sounds like more of a gambling addiction than an enjoyable poker grind.

Playing like this is unhealthy, for your mood, your finances, your bankroll and so on.
Playing like this is no fun. Not at all. We do not like to play like this, I guess. :)
Do not misinterpret poker with some slots gambling or so...
So, therefore, stop doing this. Keep your money together and start learning about poker and bankroll management in poker.
And learn when to stop to play. BRM will help about this. So you would never spend more buy-in than you could afford with your br.
It is all about playing some percentages of your bankroll and not the whole.

Try planning your sessions before you start. Choose what games do you want to get into and when to start the last games of the day.

Most sites allow you to set playing time limits. In that way you will be forced to stop, when the limit is reached, even you "want" to continue. And yes its an unhealthy pattern, which I think, you already know ;)

In poker, downswings (losing streaks) can last for weeks or even months, so it's important to have a sufficient bankroll to survive such periods. This is especially true for tournament players, because the chances of winning big when there are thousands of players against you every time are small. If the bankroll has dipped a lot and it is no longer enough for a comfortable game at the current limits, you need to go down the limit and look for weaker opponents. This approach requires discipline and guarantees the safety of your bankroll. Never go higher limits in order to win back after a big loss. This is the surest way to become a poker bankrupt.

I think your problem can be solved in one way whether you like it or not I don't know just throw money for a couple of games if you want to play 5 games then throw yourself at your money limit for 5 games, let's say $1 5 and that's how you lose this money then you won't be able to play unless you start replenishing your deposit again, but that's another problem

Why don't you try it with the number of hands?
Or decide by playing time...

Hello! It's not uncommon for players to struggle with bankroll management, especially if they enjoy the thrill of betting. However, continually playing until exhaustion and then making impulsive all-in bets is not a healthy or sustainable way to play.

To remedy this, I would recommend setting limits for yourself before you start playing. Decide how much money you're comfortable losing and set a time limit for how long you'll play. Once you've reached either limit, force yourself to stop playing and take a break. This will help you maintain a healthy bankroll and prevent you from making reckless decisions when you're exhausted.

Additionally, I would suggest shifting your focus from the betting to the strategy of the game. Try to analyze your opponents and make educated decisions based on their actions, rather than just betting for the thrill of it. This will help you improve your overall game and become a more successful player in the long run.

Remember, poker is a game of skill and strategy, not just luck. By implementing these tips and focusing on the strategy of the game, you can become a more successful and responsible player.

THIS +1000! I struggle with bad sessions that can get out of control when get tilted. While working on healthier playing habits, I have always had my limits set to 100x my bankroll. I'm pretty sure this is the only reason why I have been able to grow a small roll instead of busting it on a massive tournament
