In limit holdem poker, there is a set limit on the number of raises and re-raises that can occur during a round of betting. The specific limit will depend on the rules of the particular game, but it is typically either two or three raises per round.

For example, if the limit is two raises per round, the first player to act can either call the current bet or raise it. The next player can then either call the current bet, raise it, or re-raise it. Any subsequent players can only call or raise, but not re-raise. Once the limit of two raises has been reached, no further raises are allowed and the betting round is considered complete.

There is also a set limit on the amount that can be raised or re-raised. This is known as the "betting limit" and is typically determined by the stakes of the game. For example, in a $2/$4 limit holdem game, the betting limit would be $2 for the preflop and flop rounds and $4 for the turn and river rounds. This means that the first raise in a round can be up to $2, and any subsequent raise or re-raise can be up to $4.

In summary, in limit holdem poker, there is a set limit on the number of raises and re-raises that can occur during a round of betting, typically two or three. There is also a set limit on the amount that can be raised or re-raised, known as the betting limit, which is determined by the stakes of the game.
