Poker should I raise more out of position to protect my hand?
Or is this too risky( let's say I'm the the small blind being out of position when every bodies so it's just me vs the big blind...) meaning should I just limp in trying to keep the pot small for a small risk of building a pot pre flop..?

You should raise out of position if your hand is very good. In the case that you mention, I only raise the BB when all the others played folded when I have a good hand otherwise I just fold cause don't worth the risk.
