I prefer to play tournaments because if you score big in a tournament your risk to lose money is lower ..diferently from cash games when you always fear a downswing

Hello
Almost all successful players in tournaments are very good cash players.
Just take a note.

From what ive read and experienced myself on cash games:

Pros:
-Your overall poker skill increases greatly over any other format.
-If you can beat it you can have a steady income.

Cons:
-If you dont have the necessary skills to play you can lose your entire bankroll very easy.
-You wont get a lot of money fast.

I prefer tournaments online and live cash games. It's really just a matter of time and convenience for me.

I prefer cash games. I can play as long or as short as I choose. If I get a bad table, I can leave and find a different one. I can take my time to learn my opponents who will generally play closer to the same game without the fear of rising blinds or bubbles or such.

Pros:
I can sit for 10 minutes or 10 hours. If I lose I can just reload.

Cons:
If I win, it usually will not pay out as well as a final table in a tournament format.

I myself have just started playing cash games, I've been playing tourneys for quite a bit. I have to get used to the fact the chips in my stack are direct from my bankroll. I know it shouldn't matter but to me I pay for the tournament knowing my money is just gone if I don't cash but somehow watching my chips bleed out in the cash game is more painful. Clearly all psychological but I just have to get used to playing cash game and not being afraid to ship it if necessary.

I used to only play HU or 6max cash games, but converted into tournament player because of an easier field and much more added value tournaments.

I play online tournaments (although not as often as I was in past year or two due to time constraints) for the chance at big scores plus the flow of tournaments to me is a lot more exciting than cash games. There's a distinct beginning, middle, and conclusion. There's placing and rankings. There, for whatever reasons, is more prestige and public awareness/fandom around tournament play too.

But I generally prefer cash games for my bankroll grind challenges online and also live cash games.

You can easily go dozens of MTTS without even a min cash let alone a final table score. And you can spend hours playing only to bust out. With cash you can come and go as you please and as others said I think you can learn and improve in poker a lot more through cash games.

MTTs def require skill and strategy but they also I think have easier pre flop and post flop decisions in many cases than cash games. I think luck also plays a much bigger factor in MTT outcomes than cash game outcomes. You've sometimes got to make moves in MTTs that if you made the same move in cash games you'd be making massive mistakes. There's no pressure in cash games of increasing blinds, antes, and climbing up the payout structure.
