I am a no-limet holdem player. Today I decide to play some microstakes pot limit omaha hands. The next thing happens to me:

Hand: 7,k,9,a

board: 4,5,3,q,2 (no flush available)

villains hand: j,8,7,8

He bets river, I call and I lost. He wins with pocket 8,how on earth can he be winning, I have a straight here right? a,2,3,4,5

If someone can help me, I will be really thankfull. I am really confused right now.

In no limit holdem you can use 1 or even zero of the cards you hold, but in pl omaha you need to use exactly two, now it is clear to me why I didn't had a straight, thankyou!

Long time ago when i first started playing omaha i made the same mistake :D
Had the A of hearts on my hand and no other hearts, 4 card flush on board and i
was all in against 2 others. was very surprised when i didnt won the pot

ALWAYS use 2 of your own card to make a hand, so suited and connocted cards
are very valueable in omaha.
A good advice would be to watch some videos on youtube as well to get a hold
of some basic strategies
