Variance is unfortunately part of poker. Minimizing this is also a question of how far you are prepared to deal with your own game. To learn to act as well as possible in different situations. Find out your own leaks and eliminate them as best you can. To make use of the help offered here as well, such as the ChardsChat Poker Course.
Even taking your hand off the mouse in the game to briefly think about what the opponent's bet says. Preventing negative variance also means learning, for example, that the megabet on the river from a calling station is always the nuts.:)

One way to reduce it is to reduce allin bets pre flop, play the hand and bet according to the winning hand, that is, to avoid that the hand and the bet depend only on chance, that is why I think that going allin preflop even with very strong hands is a lottery.

1) Select game formats with the least amount of variance, which are full ring cash games and SnGs. Avoid MTTs and also games like PLO, which are much higher variance than NLH.

2) If a spot is close, then select the option, which keep the pot smaller. Fold to that turn or river raise, if you only beat a bluff. Settle for 2 streets of value, if going for 3 streets is marginal at best. Play draws passively, if you realistically dont have much fold equity. Etc.

The variance will depend on what moment of the game you are at. But one way to do this is to standardize bets according to position, stack and range. This in the pre-flop and also in the post-flop.

What do you think is the best way to reduce variance in the game of poker?
To plays fewer tables at a time is a good start
Not to play Fast Tables (Zoom) helps a lot.
As much more we play, and we are not solid professionals, at least most of us who are striving here in the forum, more the variance, bigger the frustration and other bad feelings.
To try to control luck is hard but we can minimize its effects on a short term rational game. Pot control is one of the little things we can really control while playing:
Henceforth, if you decided to go for many exploits moves and begins to open raise 4 BB, 5 BB preflop, you are increasing variance for your own willingness.
A long time ago I have stopped posting here because a mate posted a hand where he was playing NLHE 100 and elected to open raise 9 or 10 BB preflop, and he was not the last to speak, he wasn’t holding AA or AK, and his logic for doing so was this: there was a fish on the table. But fishes also hit their equities don’t they?
As much more blinds we put on the pot for our own will, more the chances that we are going to stack on earlier streets, because of the SPR, we get committed to the pot soon and many times we are going to regret.
Summarizing, try to let the pot small most of times because we cannot control luck or the dealer. Thus we can control variance.
If you are not a poker Grand Master or a very experienced player, why would you open a lot of tables? In 6-MAX Cash Tables 1 out of 3 times we are paying the blinds, so if you open 9 tables at once, can you calculate how much big it would be the variance in a bad running session?
Sometimes we gotta be aggressive, sometimes we gotta be passive. Most of all, we have to be smart and trust only our instincts while playing, never to trust our logic conscious minds.
And your instincts will tell you almost 99% of times that you shouldn’t have called this or that, you shouldn’t have bet here or there!
Remember, we bet only for value or for bluff, not for information, not because we are angry or tired and never because our opponent is a known whale, these aren’t reasons for burning chips into the pot.

I don't believe it can be reduced, what you can try to reduce is the stress you feel when things don't come close to turning out the way you think.
in all areas of human life, we have bad moments, I don't think poker would or should be any different.

What do you think is the best way to reduce variance in the game of poker?
Play slow or regular structure as you can see more hands before you reach shove and fold level.
Play less table
Play same game as you can get familiar with regular players and how you can play them.
Need volume so the variance will level down to its normal percentage.

The most important rule is: have fun. Playing too seriously without fun isnt worth it. First of all, fun; money is the consequence. Thats what i think.

The best thing you can do to combat variance is to improve your play. The better you play the less variance will be an issue. Imagine 2 SNG players one with an ROI of 1% and the other with a 15% ROI, the player with the 1% ROI will have much more variance in their results.

Variance is something you cant beat. Its what you do after the variance has hit that affects how bad variance can be.

Look at Phil Helmuths recent melt down. He had pocket kings and by the river there were 4 diamonds on the board and a possible straight. It was obvious to the world Phil was beat but he put another 50K into the pot. He could not avoid variance on the flop but his actions on the flop turn and river made this bad variance hand even worse. We can always avoid losing but keeping out losses to the minimum is how we best avoid the wild swings.

Good afternoon
Play the distance, try to show the A game, exchange shares with someone, if it's MTT, learn and work on the game.
