I like "Holdem for Advanced Players" by Sklansky and Malmuth. It's got a number of good ideas if you can wade through the poor writing skills.

You after limit or no limit books?

When starting out I would definatly say to start with limit games, means you lose your money at a slower rate ;]

If so, get low limit holdem by Lee Jones and/or Internet Texas Holdem, by Matthew Hilgar

good poker books are hard to find because it's hard to find someone willing to share the secrets to winning a lot of money

Hello, Everybody! Unfortunately, or by happiness, I didn't read any book by Poker... I'm practitioner-player by my nature.
Because, by my opinion, " Practice makes Perfect!" That's all!

My favorite book is “Poker Theory” by David Sklansky. This book, considered a classic, focuses on basic poker principles such as math, odds, and strategy.

How do people even find these ancient threads?:unsure:
This thread could celebrate its own 19th anniversary almost together with Cardschat itself :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Daniel Neg said this one is good during his stream so I am reading it at the moment. Modern poker theory, building an unbeatable strategy based on gto principles by Michael Acevedo.

I think I still prefer the "old" books like Super System, Harrington on Holdem...the book I'm reading now is called The Mental Game of Poker. I can't say much about it because I've only read a few chapters, but it seems good too.

Super System and The Theory of Poker is probably considered the most classic of the older books.

The only book on poker that I read is Doyle Brunson's SUPER SYSTEM.
But that was many years ago.
