This is a discussion on Poker books within the online poker forums, in the Learning Poker section; What is your favorite poker book, and which ones are you reading right now?
I am currently re-reading Sklanskyís Theory of Poker, but Iím really
I think that Dan Harringtons books are really good,
especially the ones about NL HoldEm Tournaments...
I think that "Theory of Poker" is great for getting the
essiantial concepts. Harringtons books have more
actionable strategies for most people as they wil only
play NL HoldEm and no other poker varieties...
It is also interesting to rea books from newer players like
Negreanu and Phil Helmuth and compare them to older
stuff like Harrington or Brunson to learn how the game is
changing all the time.
An excellent one I found--in a thrift shop 50c bin of all places!--is "Sit 'n Go Strategy." The author Collin Moshman isn't anyone I'd heard of before, but everything I've read in it so far seems really solid. I gotta pick up the pace with actually reading it, actually! XD
It doesn't matter what you can do--what matters is what you will do.
