I didn't drop out of school to play poker, but I did quit a job many years ago to play live poker and haven't looked back.

It's deffinitly not easy , and there have been times I have stared myself down in the mirror wondering wtf is wrong with me to play this game for a living lol

I wouldn't quit your job unless you are certain you have an edge on most players.

the vast majority want this, I do not dream of living in poker and running the world circuit! but not everything you want to do !! The worst of it is that the level donates to the players disappeared a lot, and with that the level of the recreational ones has disappeared every year! this will be a problem for the poker world!

play poker as a pro?

I would never consider even trying it without a big bank roll and a plan. Phil Ivey has been consider the best Poker player of all time, but since he has been caught cheating 3 times I would consider Phil Hellmuth the best all time. and Phil Hellmuth went from, millions to broke, and had to borrow money from a friend to take to a casino and start back up again. of course he rebounded, but as good as I am, and I feel I am really good poker player, I studied Phil Hellmuth extensively, I earned over 180 mil in play money. never bought chips, But I wouldn't even consider trying to turn pro, most pro poker players don't have what it takes to keep banking over a long period of time. however, I would consider myself good enough to play against them in a tournament. maybe not win, but I bet I wouldn't be in last, and I very well might even make payouts. look into how many pro poker players went broke and never recovered before you make your mind up to try pro. Peace" and Happy Bank Rolling....

I wouldn’t drop out of school. There is a lot of value in the education itself for if and when you want to get back in to a normal job. But as for a job, if you are confident you can play well enough to earn a decent hourly wage at the table, then you can do it. You should definitely have the bankroll to support it though. My childhood friend with whom I used to pay currently plays full time (just won 70k in a big tourney, 130k in one over the summer). It is definitely something you can do if you want. It is attainable. It takes time and training/practice/study. But you need the roll and need to be able to withstand the variance that will inevitably slap you across the face.

The only people who should do this are those who truly qre passionate about the game and are willing to put in the effort needed to become the best.

Then they have a chance at success.

Hello friend, I play poker for fun and I also love to compete, I like to study poker and I do it because I see evolution in my Bankroll, I work on my own, I'm a merchant. I feel that I am in a continuous improvement process is notorious for this. If one day I start to earn more than expected is the consequence of a good job.

I never would have considered dropping out of school. Why not finish school and then see where a professional career and poker take you? Perhaps you can try both for a year or two, playing poker after work hours and on weekends. At that time you will be able to see if you can make a living at poker and go full time. If poker does not work out you have a degree and a start on a professional career to keep going with.

I would quit job ONLY if i cash out big amount of money to start some kind of busniess or if somehow I get sponsors to play poker...In my opinion if you only play poker for living without any other source of income there is big chance to go broke or brutal downswing

Dropping out of school is the worst idea ever, no matter what you are going to do and what you are going to earn.
