Wow really? I've been playing way too high then with a small BR. Guess that's why i'm always out and reloading so fast :(

You could just play the lowest level of cash until you are profiting over a large hand sample. That way you will be well adjusted for higher stakes.

Or you could just degen it up and go busto with your whole account on one table.

As for me, better play 5/10 tables on poker stars even with tiny bankroll. You say why? In my modest experience, table NL2 and NL5 is so disgusting, players are very aggressive and calling with EVERITHING. For example on NetBet poker I've played NL2 like NL10 on pokerstars. Players are more tight and thoughtful. They can fold to Cbet, they can make bluff, and they can’t play All-in with A2-A9. Why and where is the difference? I really DONT KNOW!!! But it is true! So, as for me, 40$ is a normally to play NL10, with personal strategy, of course!

I am going to play 2/5 with 6.50$ bankroll, 3buyins so no stress since I started with 8$ just by winning freeroll on blackchip, plus I will more cash from freeroll. I cant play 1/2 just too slow progress for me.
but 2/5 can make decent progress and the best table is with donks that will make good value with your nuts. The minimum withdraw is 100$, so I also move up quickly (because I cant find job to support parents).

Lots of people started out with few times less than you are starting with right now. If I was you, I'd play 0.05/0.1 cash games and sng's/tourneys up to $1,5. However it's your money and you can do whatever you want with it. GL!

I have a BR of around $40 and wanted to try my hand at playing the smallest cash games on Stars ($0.01/$0.02) I know I need a lot more than $40 but that's all I have for the moment, any advice? thanks :p

My advice is that you not play poker with a $40 roll. I don't know about you, but i kind of enjoy being able to eat. lol jk :p

0.01$ - 0.02$ not interesting. They folds to 0.02$ bet .. '.' I think better for you to play one table with 25-30$ buy in and you can earn better money for sure.

20 Buy-ins is huge for that level, I did already go up to next level with that bankroll xD. The problem is how convinced you feel to go to a next level of course. Playing cash games i think you should approximately be having 20 BI on every level you play. I go to next levels way to quickly, but I think it is adviseable to go to the next level once you've got 15-20 buy-ins on the next level and just start by playing 1-2 tables and check whether you can play comfortably and profitable poker at the next level

How is this good advice? Put your entire bankroll on the table at once? What happens if you have a bad game? You'll be out everything. I am a new player so take my comments with a grain of salt, but that just doesn't make sense to me.

You're right it doesn't make sense. It only takes one cooler or bad beat to go busto when you put your WHOLE bankroll on the table.

I started 2NL with 20$ bankroll which is not good but i manage to move up without busting so it think 40$ is enough for that level.

Try this for starters.

You go to know when to hold em
know when to fold em
know when to walk away
know when to run
you never count your money
when you're sitting at the table
there'll be time enough for counting
when the dealings done

It's perfect. Playing at these tables to have a larger bank and power leveling . Also they are good Sng 0.25 $ 45 players. They are not long to play and get good money. regards

I started with $ 10 all in the 0.01-0.02 and normal. Few got up and went to sit and go with Bain 0.25.

At 20 BI, I think it's a very risky BRM for a player that is not fundamentally sound. If I were in your shoes, given I dont have great fundamentals, and most players don't have too, I'd play $.50/1.00 regular speed sit and go (something in the 70% .50 cent, 30% 1.00 ball park) , and upped your BR to 30 BI cash.

Yeah, I've turned a pretty decent profit starting with $40 BR before. BRM is very important, but I would recommend you to change stakes to 5NL once you get to around $200-$250. Shouldn't be hard, Variance is minimal in these stakes and there are enough fish to stake up. A nice tutorial for you would be "Grinding It Up" By Felix Schneiders. Teaches you how to implement a fairly steady ABC model, and potentially add some tweaks to make it more profitable.

Big Swings

I really believe now in what most people are saying here as I am stating with 500 dollars so I can mult- tabling and still playing ABC poker and then I can not get so bored I already have started to win money no move just situational poker. I do steal blinds and will 4 barrel if i have to . But always use just good ABC poker
