I lose about 80% of the time with AQ. Looks like a good starting hand
but I mostly always lose. Any suggestions on how to play the hand?

Early position, I let AQ go. Mid to late position I open raise. Never limp. Late position I 3 bet if their is one raiser in front.

AQ is the standard hand to raise. The value of the hand increases if fewer people enter the bank. At the same time, we must not damage our stack.

Consider the situation, and your opponents in addition to your hand.
AQ can make a great one pair hand, and is often good for 1 or 2 streets of betting, but not usually 3 or 4 streets. These videos will help explain what I mean in more depth and help you play AQ (and all hands for that matter) better in the future

AQ is way better than hands like KQ which tends to leak out lot of money from inexperienced players.
In ST games must be played by without prejudiced.

In Normal games, positions, flop structure and opponents actions dictate the move.

Multiway pot should be avoided unless stack size is on the verge of collapse.

Preflop shove not recommended unless playing a ST game.

AQ hand that you can 't just throw off. In MTT in the entire tournament, this hand comes from 2 to 5 times.
It's better to raise with this hand. Further decisions are made depending on the texture of the Board and the actions of the opponents.

It all depends on your position at the table and your opponents. But I usually prefer to play aggressively with such cards.

I was checking through my hand history. AQo is one of my all time best hands. It is better than both AA and QQ for total winnings. AQo has a lower winning percentage but it has won me more cash. What is really quite strange is the way it has won so many times on small blind.

KK is my best hand for total winnings.

AQo is one of my most common hands too. It wins 73% of the time. It is supposed to win 65% of the time so I am slightly above that. That ideal percentage (65%) is the one given by cardschat.

AQ is good hand,if you play it right and if you have a little luck you can win.
It is good starting hand there is no doubt about that.

How to utilize AQ depends on situation that all tables are detail.
