Dear Poker Peoples,

On the Chapter "After the flop"

in a Heads up situation after the flop, he said "Since I raised before the flop it is usually in my best interest to make a show of strength after the flop. and make a continuation bet about 65% of the time. I will make this bet about half the size of the pot. Remember that my opponents is going to flop a hand about 35% of the time, unless they flopped some super draw they are not getting the right pot odds (3 to 1) to choose a draw.

Question:

as I understand, assuming I bet half the pot (say I bet 1 dollar into a pot of 2 dollars). Making the headsup opponent having to bet 1 dollar into a pot of 3 dollars. that pot odds is 25% (1/4). and if the opponent flop 35% of the time which is more than 25%. Why are they not getting the right odds in chasing the draw?

Thank you!

Good math! No this is fluid, ever changing. About a third of the time your opponent will fold.

Excellent book, and well worth the read for anyone who is serious about the game. Glad to see a thread highlighting this tome.
