This is a discussion on omaha within the online poker forums, in the Learning Poker section; has anyone played this. i have for the last couple days and have taken some bad beats from people with crappy cards
Pot-Limit Omaha has much more variance than NLHE so expect to be drawn out on more. Everyone has 4 cards so hand strength is much more important. For instance 2 pair is a pretty strong hand in NLHE but is low-marginal in PLO.

Omaha has a lot more bad beats than Holdem, but they are not really bad beats. Unlike Holdem when you have a good idea as the hand goes on where you are in Omaha until the river has been dealt you are very rarely a big favourite.
If you play a lot of Omaha you will get used to "bad beats" and wild swings but it is a far better game, in my opinion, than Holdem, just play at the lowest stakes you can while you are learning Omaha, which can take a long time.
i love omaha h/l online. not as fond of just omaha high.
as far as bad beats go. omaha is a draw game. the key is to be drawing to the nuts. the high end of straights, ace high flushes, good fullhouses not low ones.
I think Omaha is more fun to play than Hold'em but since most sites don't offer a lot of Omaha options and even if they do, the traffic is low so I usually just stick to Hold'em and play an Omaha every now and then.
I have started playing some Omaha in a small "home" game in Texas. I like the game but the casino games play much bigger. My knowledge of the game is not good enough to play at that level but would like to learn.
I will continue the "home game" but would be interested in some ways to study the game to prepare to play up.
I like Omaha. There is less bluffing and more math involved Have to figure what two out of the four card combo makes it to the nuts. Also 4th 5th street easier to play in my opinion. In Hold’em you can play the board.
For example in Hold em AAAA10 board is quad for all players no matter
In Omaha AAAA10 board. You MUST to take three card from the board and combine with two hole card so quad A is not the best hand. It’s something else likely a full house for someone holding a pair in their hole cards
