In short...
It's the same game as Texas... but instead of 2 cards you get 4.
Another important detail is that you must necessarily use 2 cards from your hand to make the best game. In Texas Holdem you can use the 5 board cards if they are the best, not in Omaha.
That's the basics as far as rules are concerned... but to deepen the game you'll need to go a lot further... actually it's another game.
Position is much more relevant... and learn that your game can be beaten at any time.
So play in position with strong cards (take a look at the Omaha hand rankings as the rankings are quite different from Texas.)

Play the strongest starting hands.
When you hit a good flop, play more aggressively.
Follow poker strategies by playing hands that allow you to take down the entire pot yourself.
Most of the time don't play after the flop if you don't have nut potential.
Occasionally bluff the river if you don't have a low hand. But don't bluff too often in omaha poker hands.

Try and see every flop you can cheaply.

789T-JQKA and such running hands all play well post flop.

On paired boards, don't get it all in unless you have a FH.

With low cards 2345, or 5678 combo's, you're probably beat. Unless you have the top end of the straight.

Be wary of flushes when you don't have the nut hand.

Don't play it like hold-em...pointlessly raising with garbage hoping to scare people away preflop.

It doesn't work and all you achieve is passing your chips to the donk holding A28K.

It didn't work out very well for me, I didn't go basic, but I like it.

You have to play 2 and only 2 of the 4 cards you are dealt. Position is more important in PLO because the preflop equity is closer. AA is not as good in PLO as it is in NL. Getting 4 of a suit dealt to you is worse than getting 2 of a suit.

The thing to understand about Omaha is a equity realization post flop game with 4 cards so we have to have all our cards working together- AcAs6h6d is not a great hand. adding in just 1 flush draw increases our preflop equity but also allows us to realize full equity post flop as well

Here in brazil, cash games are almost exclusively PLO5. When have players to much at the table, PLO4 and NLH as an option for beginners. The button choose the game to be played. This month I am building a small bankroll playing PLO5. I'm profiting 600% in two weekends. People gamble too much on this game and who endeavor to play it well, reap good fruits.
