M vs. BB

I recently read an article saying instead of focusing on your BB at the table you should be focusing on the equation M. M is the calculation that adds the BB SB and ante on a given orbit. So if the BB is 100 SB is 50 and ante is 10 and I have a stack of 5000 at a 9 handed table my M is about 21. Each orbit costs me 240 5000 divided by 240 =M. Of course we all know I’d have 50 bigs at this level. My question is which method do you think is more helpful in grinding through a tourney?

These methods are mainly intended for understanding the situation with your stack and your place in the tournament. It also makes no difference which method to use, the main thing is to understand what you use them for.
