This is a discussion on Loose-Aggressive Poker Strategy within the online poker forums, in the Learning Poker section; As one of the most frustrating types of players to play against, what is your strategy when playing against LAG players?
Hi mate, against these types of players, you have to let them steal the small pots, and wait for good hands against them, it is the only way to play againts them.
Since they don't have fold buttons, they only have call, call, and raises buttons.
They will win you several hands, sometimes with crazy hands and a lot of luck on the river, and this can be frustrating, but in the long run, you would have to win the bigger pots againts them.
Since a LAG has a wide range, you typically want to widen your range a little bit as well. 3-betting LAGs in position can often be great, since they open to many hands, so they can not defend well against a 3-bet. You also want to do more bluff catching against LAGs, and out of position it can be great to check to them to induce. If they called you on BTN, and you flop a strong top pair like AJ on J86, then either check flop or check turn and look to call them down even on scary runouts that complete some kind of flush or straight.
