Hi guys and gals. I am looking for a place where I can learn step by step how to beat low stake MTTs online. I have basic knowledge of poker but I played mostly live games. I have read few books and tons of articles but my problem is all this info is all over the place. I don't know on what to place my focus. So what I am looking for is literally step by step guide from beginner all the way to advanced stuff. I don't mind spending some $$$ for this knowledge but I certainly don't have $100+ per hour for poker coach :p Also if you think MTTs are not optimal to start my "poker pro" career I am open to other types of NL holdem, MTTs are just what I enjoy the most. Hope you can help. Peace!

Thank U 4 Posting.

Jonathan Little is a good coach for exactly what you are looking for. He has a paid site but also free material. He has a weekly poker hand video that is free on his site or on youtube. Check it out. See if you like what he recommends then decide from there.

As to what to play that would depend on your bankroll. It is possible to get broke playing tournaments more so than cash.
Jonathan recommends finding a game you can beat and play it a lot.

If you have only basic knowledge of poker than you should turn semipro unless you have a trust fund. Playing online means playing the max number of tables, for a lot of sites today that is now 6. So think of multiplying your mistakes by six everyday. Live cash whoops I blew $200 on tilt. Online cash whoops I blew $1200 on tilt. There are pros who have emptied their bankrolls in one night online.

If you have not read Jared Tendler's books The Mental Game of Poker vol 1-2 you should do so several times. Tilt online and you are tilting on multiple tables with the ability to jump into higher stakes games with the click of a button.

Self control is a must. Jared's books can help with that.

Hope this helps

Great! I think you should go on a hunt and find a coach who you like the most and get sessions with them. There are plenty of low stakes MTT coaches who charge < $50ph

Studying and gathering information is one way to learn. But, having a coach will get you to articulate your thought patterns and will challenge your strategies. Having someone to talk to who has been in your shoes is a great way to learn and get feedback a lot faster. So I think you're makinga great decision!

Hey so I think it is too early for me to hire a coach. I want to study on my own first and than get the coach that will fine tune my game. If you know good places to start learning please share!

Ok cool, what I would definitely do then is just pick any one of the online free coaches suggested and start playing. Then post the hands in a community for feedback, its one of the fastest ways to improve. I would suggest on a discord server since the reply speed is generally faster. The Raise Your Edge or Epiphany Poker channels are both available to anyone.

I vouch with the others for Johnathan Little. Check out the free stuff on youtube. Also make use of Twitch if you have the time. There are more high stakes players but a few that do regularly play low stakes.

Bfizz11 and ArlieShaban. Check out their VODs or live streams if you have a chance.

There is so much to learn from watching winning players make decisions live and how they react to the scenarios they are presented with.

I agree with the others.. Jonathan Little is a great place to start!
Some great free stuff from him, but also his Pokercoaching.com site AND many of the books he has written.

He sometimes has pricedrop of his products... and you can try hes pokercoaching site for free for 7 days.. i did so and ended up to buy 2 years.
I also bought 4-5 of hes books on Audible.. great value!

Good luck! :)

If you want to go from the bare beginner level, to GTO/Exploitive play.... I would suggest UpswingPoker Lab.... Johnathan Little is super good too, but I just really like the course based system Upswing has....

Now with that said, Upswing's ranges are good for Cash games.... they dont get into Tournament play until about 3/4 the way through the beginners course.... so if you dont want to play cash to really focus on the fundamentals of the game. Then go with Johnathan Little's PokerCoaching....

Once you get that, find yourself a good community of players, and join a study group. I run one with a group of players on Wed. Nights at 7PM EST. Feel free to send me a message if you would like to jump in....

Once you finish the basic course and have a soild understanding of the fundamentals.... there is only 1 coaching company I would suggest after that.... and that would be Raise Your Edge.... or RYE.... now granted you are looking at a flat rate of around $1000-$1200 for the the master class MTT which is by far the best out there.... that is in comparison to Upswing, and JL's poker coaching at around $50 a month....

So I hope that gives you a nice road map.... and once against I would suggest Upswing for cash, and pokercoaching for MTTs.... with Upswing a slightly better structured course....

Hey man thanks for a brief reply. I tried to PM you but I am not allowed because I don't have 15 posts... So I will just reply here.

I have experience playing poker but mostly live games. I read few books and tons of articles but I really want to get serious about it and maybe turn this into a job someday. I really have passion towards poker and it is my dream to do it for living. I love live games but unfortunately I can only play online for now as I work in casino that has the only poker room in town. I find it quite different online and I don't know how to use a HUD, so I want to start from scratch. I want to start beating micros and slowly move up in limits. I will start with Pokercoaching and Upswing for now and if I start beating low limits I will probably go with RYE master class later on. In the mean time I would like to join your study group if you think that I should in this point of time. The only thing is I will not be able to attend every session as it is at 1am where I live and sometimes I will work nights on Wednesdays. Also if you have more recommendations for learning tools and books, please share. Thank you for your time and have a great day.

As for tools, ICMizer is the absolutely the most important for MTT player....

It helps you understand ICM, and Push/Fold ranges spots middle to late tournament, this allows you to mathematically run deeper in tournaments...

Equilabs equity calculator is probably your next most important too.... it allows you to calculate every hand for hand/range vs range situations to find your actually equity in any givin spot....

Then next would be some HUD program. I've been hearing a lot about Hand 4 Note lately, and seen a view videos on it.... it does look like the next generation in HUD programs, granted I'm an American player, and dont have a lot of sites that allow it. I use PokerTracker 4, Holdem Manager is also a good one, and I have a few friends that use Drive HUD....

Then after that, get Flopzilla, this program has a lot of features a lot like Equilabs. I use it to help realize Fold Equity on Flop/Turn/River spots....

Those are the ones I would suggest getting early and getting use to using....

Then once you feel you have the fundamentals down, that your to the point you can understand, and add RYE stratagy to you game.... PioSolver is IMO the best GTO solver on the market....

I know a lot of these terms I used like, Fold Equity, ICM, push/fold ranges, ect. Might sound like foreign language. You will learn them within the frist month or so of any in depth fundamental poker course you take.... so dont let the overwhelmingness consume you. You will understand it all in time....

As for sending me a message. Get your messages in, stay a soild contributor to CardChat, and shoot me a message when you can.
