This is a discussion on Longest run of bad luck? within the online poker forums, in the Learning Poker section; The drawing hands that never draw.
The folded draws that materialise.
The garbage hole cards that go on for hours.
The idiot lottery wheel loose players who luck
I play TAG but also mix it up in certain situations.
I went on a run where I lost 9/10 hands flopping the nuts, every hand I flopped middle or top set I would get drawn out on, AA cracked by AK AQ AJ, flopping a set of acres and losing to runner runner flush from AK etc...
It was very tough to deal with
One night playing 2/5 nlhe at the hard Rock Tampa I flopped middle set of 10s and lost to 55, first time we both flopped a set and got it all in on the flop and 55 gets runner runner flush... About an hour later flopped set of tens vs set of 5s, all in on the turn and 5s hit quads on the river, this is a sick game we play
Sometimes I feel like my entire poker life is one long down swing =P!
I guess everyone tends to feel like that after a good run of bad beats.
I had a rather incredible occurrence a week or so ago... I was playing 4 MTT's and on each table at the same exact time i had 72o... I thought 'wow that is strange!'... Low and behold after correctly folding all 4 hands the next 4 hands to be dealt were exactly the same! Gotta love them odds!
Now its strange because i've NEVER had AKs dealt 2 hands in a row on 4 separate tables i'm playing but I'm still holding out hope =P!
The problem with these moments is that you think that you are unlucky in the game more than others, but believe that I easily break this stereotype by watching the play of others. just understand that the variance is part of poker.
