Huge difference. Online we basically look at betting patterns, bet sizes, position, etc. When you're playing live, you get live reads on the actual person that you wouldn't get online. If someone bluffs you online, they could be shaking in front of the screen. You cannot do that live. You have to act the same way when you have AA or J10s or 83o. It's all about changing your game up, paying attention to others, utilizing your reads, and building pots.

Played a lot of live poker at multiple casinos. Different times and different days attracts different types of play. Weekends attract the super loose and aggressive players, while during the week it's a lot tighter. The key thing is, be patient.

Interaction one large difference..

Seeing your opponent live, you can size them up, they may try to get you off your game. Their reaction to your moves, poker and body-language. Truly interactive.
On the other hand, is the sterile, controlled online experience; hard for others to get under your skin when you just turn the chat off.

Live, start small stakes , both at casinos and with friends.

There is a lot of difference, first the advantage of playing online is that you will play more hands than live, that will help you become more productive and have much more experience than a person playing live, and the disadvantage is that you can not read your rival you only see his nick, you cannot read his body language that is important in the game, since it helps you draw greater conclusions, but I think I would choose online because you can play wherever and whenever you want without any problem.

Its a much better experience live. And you re much more involved since you need to pay attention to everything, tells, way of their play style, no huds, no anything, just pure brain and focus

I also never played live poker. I dont have an opportunity. I would also like to try my hand at live poker. Only the difference between live and online is very different.

The excitement of playing in a Casino is greater, but the convenience online is unparalleled. Fold, fold, fold, and bet when you have it. Simple.

The difference is huge. When you play online, you just see the bets and the cards, but when you play live, there is when the emotions get in. You can learn a lot from the behaviour of your opponents or you can fool them with your behaviour.

the variance of the online is greater, because it is more hands played among other points in compensation the profit can eventually be greater as well. but honestly for me today it’s safer emotionally to play live

Very big difference. You can experience a lot more verbal and more non-verbal movements irl. If you good at reading people you will have an easier time playing there rather than sitting behind a computer.

Yeah , its a big difference between those two .

I prefer online poker cause I can totally relax and play the game I love , with or without distractions , while playing live poker I have to concentrate on so many things in order to beat the game/player I'm up against . Every info counts !
Also in live poker you can much more easily spot other players steam/tilt/bluffs and so on .

You should try both and see what suits you better ;)

It's basically a different game. You have more tools at hand but also more skills are required that are obsolete in online poker. I'm sure there are books written about the differences!

the biggest difference is the slowness of live poker.. id play some hands before an mtt.... you can go hours in an mtt live and have nothing to play.... is something you need to really do in order to see how it is different.... again sizing up players is a lot more important taking notes in head on their plays style etc... can be a huge help.... gl
