How many buy-ins should i have

So I'm playing on poker stars, How many buy-ins should I have before moving up in say a cash game or moving up in a sit an go or MTT?

I would say it depends on your level of comfort, and how risky you want to play it. 100 buyins is definitely the recommended safe option, but I don't see a problem with less than that (down to maybe 40 BIs) just keep a track of everything, make sure you know where your money is going and have fun.

Sit & Go you could probably get away with 50 buy-ins but if your talking MTT I’d say 200-300 buy ins because of the variance.

I think you need to have at least 100 buy-ins. But, in any case, you can always increase your bankroll by playing freerolls.

Sng 0.50$ you can play with 3 bankrolls: agressive 25$, average 50$, recomended 100$.

When I started playing poker, a great poker player, Daniel Negreanu, said that: when you want to play cash, you have to divide the banckrol by 10. That is: if you have a banckrol of $ 10 you have to sit at a table of at least $ 1. That is, at the table with blinds bb-2 cents, sm-1 cent.

I keep 50 buy-ins in my BR and transfer the rest to be cashed out.

I use at most 1 if I lose by a bad hand but if I lose myself to shit I left right away because it wasn’t meant to be and ready

For cash games I usually go with 20 buy ins

Between 50 and 100 buyins for MTT is good amount. I play more conservatively so i try to keep the 100 buyins level.
