How do you deal with tilt??

Poker can be so frustrating, loosing your stack to some donk hand that should of been folded, some how gets there on the turn?! And you loose your stack (Again and Again)

So I take a little break and try and come back focused, i get far less tilted than I used to but its still never easy especially with a low bankroll that your trying to build.

So how do you deal with Tilt and down swings??

Sometimes you get unlucky at the tables, sometimes we think we have done everything right but didn't once its happened we can't change it getting annoyed and frustrated won't help.

I write down the hand number then take a deep breath and put it out my mind. Once my session or tournament is finished I may have 20-30 hand numbers written down. Before I play again I'll review all these hands to check my actions and learn from it if I've made an error or curse the poker gods if I've just been majorly unlucky.

If I'm in a prolonged downswing I will increase my study time and decrease my playing time. I find increasing my knowledge of the game while suffering a downswing is 10x better than just trying to play through it.

Hope this helps

The best way to deal with it is to know that everyone goes on bad runs and all we can do as players is make the correct decisions.

Taking breaks from the game is the best if you are a recreational player.

If you are a professional you just have to play through downswing and not let cards change how you play. Each new hand needs 100% focus on decision making and you can't let the previous hands outcome affect the way you play the next.

I have found that with experience and time I tilt less. I think it has to do with not being shocked by anything on the tables... once you have seen it all.

When I begin to feel tilted, I remember about the bubble not reached yet and I need chips to be in it. In my early days, I was folding the next 2-3 hands, sometimes without even looking at them.

The first prize is also a good thing to think of when it happens. Nobody deservses your stack easily to cash that prize!

Sh* happens at the table in big part because we provoke it.

Poker is a good training for patience and impulsiveness :D

Keep calm & on rockin'!

So you tilt away your entire bankroll...and what now? Reload and reload and reload again. Got tired of doing that and I just couldn't afford it. I made up my mind that I am going to adhere to a strict bankroll management. I also have a daily loss limit, if I hit it and still want to play...then its freeroll time. Its not that I'm tilt free, the rules that I have set for myself limits it. Make your own rules and stick to it!

Quit giving away your money!

Yeah, i've had alot of downswing lately and can honestly say i get tilted too often. Mostly because of my bad decisions. If i play few hands and i see my card is not running i usually try to quit for that day, but if i had loss i usually try to win it back and break even and then thats how it happens. I lose my rest BR lol.

I play very little hand always trying to 3bet preflop for not having to face the flop.If you enjoy a good reputation on the table by playing tighten.La plupard temp the other players will avoid paying your raises. You will not earn a lot of chips but this will allow you to pass this bad cycle while avoiding losing your chips. It takes patience because it is the key to success.

If you are a winning player over a decent sample- i'd say volume is the key, mtt variance can be a mfer. Step down in stakes and continue to grind through it, while also putting in time off the tables.

If you are a breakeven/losing player- you need to get in the lab and start putting in more time studying and a bit less playing. The field is only going to get better, and without a large amount of time devoted to study/review of theory and hand history, you will be left behind the curve even more.

When on a bad run most of your hands you're going to lose! Even the best pre flop hands get cracked so you can play extremely aggressive with your monsters, avoid chasing if it's too expensive and look for 1 on 1 action pre flop to minimize your risk of losing! Don't slow play any of your hands as well!

Always look for the reasons for your failures at the tables only in yourself and your game! luck has nothing to do with it! even if you have been unlucky several times in the game - everything exactly once again will not hurt to work on the game!

I usually take a break for a few days and do some other things to escape from the bad times in the game.

It is something normal

down swings are something really normal when we play poker basically that always happen and I guess the best player in the world know how to deal with down swings if we can dealt with down swing we are closer to be one of the best I guess maybe not one of the best but at least better.

Tilt is not something that a good player should have or demostrated I guess a poker player'd better play with a good mindset and always be focus on what it has to be done.

How do you deal with tilt??

So I take a little break and try and come back focused, i get far less tilted than I used to but its still never easy especially with a low bankroll that your trying to build.

So how do you deal with Tilt and down swings??

Firstly , have a good bankroll for whatever game you're playing !!! Low bankroll means you're not doing something right, right there . Rather play lower limit games or build your bankroll up , till you're ready ;
Secondly , when on tilt , break is an excellent option , much better then almost all others , poker won't go anywhere , and in few days you'll be refreshed and ready to try again , remember this happens a lot to all of us , so there's no shame in that !
Thirdly , downswings ... You must be able to level down at certain point , when your bankroll is in danger , no point in losing it all cause of few/some crappy hands,tourneys...Downswing is also part of a game , so you must approach it right , else you'll keep depositing over and over again ;

This are my humble opinions , and I hope it helped you in anyway , remember that on a long run , all of those are irrelevant , so rather then focusing on tilts or downswings , focus on how good you play , making the right decisions , taking care of bankroll , and so much more :) After all, poker is a game of both skill and luck , where on a long run , skill is the king ! ;)

Whenever I get affected by tilt I will go into straight gambling mode and start spewing away my stack. The first step for me is to identify what causes my tilt. Usually multiple bad beats where I get it in good and end up getting sucked out on. The fact is that as many times as you get sucked out on, you also suck out on someone else. I try to decide if I made a good play regardless of the result and that helps me with my tilt. Still working on it though.
