Do you guys have any strategies for avoiding tilting after you've been running well for a while? I recently lost my bankroll because I ignored bankroll management after getting ****y...and making some horrid, horrid decisions at the table. Avoiding negative tilt is getting easier for me, it's not my day cards aren't coming my way I just won't play, but positive tilt I almost feel like I'm on a happy drug that makes me need to go back to the table, even if I'm not on my computer. Do I have gambling problems or is this a problem everyone has?

Winning tilt is a tough one. Just force yourself to continue to play your A game...

Good that you have recognised the different forma which may affect you. Definetly just be looking to play your a game each time you sit down. Sometimes it doesnt happen like you said and thats poker. I can point you in the direction of jared tendlers mental game of poker. It helped me define different types of tilt and how to prevent them. Hope this helps

Tell me about it. I got so delusional that before I played my losing game I looked up "private jet prices" and "yacht prices" on Google...

What stakes do you play? It sounds as though you are thinking about the money a bit too much

I lost my bankroll in 400$NL. However I was not rolled for it at all, I only had one and a half buy ins for it. I went into it after doing well on a 200$ table, and I went there after doing well at a $100 table, which I went to after doing well at a 50$ table. Notice a trend? I realize this was my fault for letting the money get to my head. But grinding micro just got so boring, and I couldn't help but think, if I'm doing so well here, imagine how I'd be able to do in higher limits. Thinking of giving up poker until I can get myself together to where the money is no longer a huge issue for me. Or I might keep grinding micro with the rest of my bankroll. But how do you tell when you're playing badly vs when you're just experiencing variance?

You are right.you were nowhere near rolled for it. Your mindset is all wrong with thinking the micros are boring, you cannot expect to beat more skilled opponents if.you cannot beat micro fish.Again this relates back to being focused on the money too much. Go back to basics with a 20+ bi strategy for micro stakes along with a fresh mindset and go from there. Variance will become clearer over larger samples. How many hands have you played? Do you use a poker database at all?

I tried PokerTracker once but it doesn't work with Bovada/ignition casino. I don't really know how many hands I've played...What mindset should I look at playing micro with? Since I don't have a tracker I can't look at my winrate...is a tracker absolutely essential?

Im not aure about those sites as i dont play there. Although it is not essential it will definately improve your game. Many people wouldnt play 5nl without one let alone 400n. What i mean about the mindset is removing the monetary association and not thinking about yauchts or whatever. You need to be in the game for the right reasons. Poker is not a get rich quick scheme

Tilt is when you're in a mental state that prevents you from playing as well as you could with a clear head. Can be gained from losing too much or winning too much.

Ignition casino has anonymous tables so I'm not sure how good a tracker would be there. And you're right I shouldn't be thinking like that. But if not for the money then what is the right reason to play poker? At least for you, why do you play?

Well one positive thing is that you know what the problem is and that is the first step toward making some positive changes that will help you deal with tilt in a better way. In my experience putting tile in check is hard to do and it takes a lot of time. It takes a day to day effort by you to keep your goal to over come your tilt on your mind all you can. This is the same way I fought my serious tilt problem and it took me 6 months before I felt like I could handle the things at the table that cause players to tilt in the place. Don't get me wrong, I was playing poker every day, and it's the best place to test yourself when something happens that makes you want to blow.Try your best to catch yourself and think about what you are trying to do. It will get easier with time. But in no way ever let yourself believe you would never tilt again. I thought that and I told many players that I had really over come that devil but about 3 week ago I got me a real eye opener. and I went to the bottom for a whole week and I just stayed there and rolled in all the anger, self pity, confusion, and many more just like I loved it and I had a right to say to hell with it all. Anyway, I got over it with the help from the members here. I think it was good for me to see just how fast that shit could hit the fan, and to see just how weak I am when I'm face to face with a serious problem and I could not or would not lift a hand to help myself. Yep it's a lesson learned the hard way. Well GL to you

It's learning experience. Probably you need to lost your bankroll once to realize that you made a mistake. It's the same with the poker hands. The best way to learn is to play badly a hand and the next time you may only develop.
