Hi

As per the title, I am wanting to head out to play my first live-casino game, just wondering if you guys have any tips? I've been playing online for around 12 months and had a handful of home games with friends but now wanting to go a step further.

Am I going to stick out like a sore thumb?!

Thanks!

If you are going to a live cash game, I would recommend making a minimum buy-in, playing uber tight, and just watch the dynamics of the table. Learn what the house rules are, how they do things and just getting a feel for the game. Feel free to ask questions and understand why things might happen the way they do. I would not even be concerned with making a profit your first time. Poker is a tough enough game as it is. Get comfortable with the feel of it so you can come back feeling prepared.

This is not related to strategy but a...dont make the same mistake I did.

My first ever time playing at a Casino. Sunday morning tournament. I forgot my glasses! I felt very uncomfortable constantly asking what the board was. And could tell most of the people at my table were annoyed by the situation.

Also I like what Floppy said. Go for the experience and to see how the games run. The pace/blinds were much faster than I expected. After that initial day my comfort level was much higher. I did enjoy using REAL chips over my composites! Mm...clay...haha

Just play tight to begin with, try to get a read on how your opponents play and of course, don't look giddy when you get dealt pocket aces!

Do NOT play too many hands. You want to be tighter than your opponents and be betting mainly for value. Don't get fancy with elaborate bluffs - you will be called almost every time. Remember that you are getting very few hands per hour..... so you might be folding every hand for multiple hours in a row - do not get tilted by this, and if you feel the tilt coming, just leave
