So in those days I was observing the fictitious money tournaments and I started to see how the game is there, and I ended up entering a tournament, I realized that the gameplay is well maintained and balanced, but if you play fictitious money with yourself would you prepare to play for real money? What is your opinion?

Well ofcourse play money is a good learning tool. Though for real money people probably playing smarter. I advice you to start with freerolls. It does not cost you anything but you can win real money.

Of course its still poker, so you can learn something and use it for practice. But you wont meet any "regulars" in play money games, so they basically only teach you how to play against fish and not against someone taking the game serious and trying to win. So I advice getting into real money games as soon as possible.

On pokerstars for instance you can play 45-90 man SnGs for a little as 25c. Pop 25$ into your account, which is basically the price of a trip to the cinema with your girlfriend, and you have enough for 100 of these events, which is many hours of entertainment and practice. In reality you have for much more than 100, because even if you are completely new to the game, you are still going to get lucky and cash in some.

I have used the play chips for years on poker stars, since we "free" Americans are banned from using real money on Stars...

I think play chip poker is the same exact poker as real money poker. It is the same game with the same rules. The only difference is, players aren't playing poker to win money, they are playing poker because they love to play poker. And that makes a large difference in the game, and how people play it. It means players will take more risks at the play chips, they might shove all-in more often, or perhaps they will simply flat preflop more often, it depends on the type of player obviously.

In my opinion, using the play chips is definitely a wise choice. It is the best way to get experience at the game without spending (and losing) your money!!! I do not understand why so many players do not appreciate play chip poker and the benefits of using play chips. If you are going to try out different poker strategies, don't do it in real money games, try it out at the play chips first!

I highly recommend using play chips, especially for players who are new to the game of poker. Best wishes!!
