This is amusing to relate here as this just happened.
Just yesterday I re-watched a Nathan Williams video, the first key point being, always play AA and KK strongly....do not limp. I then promptly ended up in a tourney with a familiar player who though successful is nothing but maniacally aggressive. Details are a tad hazy but this is pretty much on point.
I had AA in middle position and I believe he was on the BB. The table folded to me and I limped knowing what to expect. I think his first raise was nominal but after the flop (dry) I checked again and he made a pot sized bet. Turn was unimpressive so I checked again, he made another big raise and of course I matched. Then on the river he went all-in.
For a moment, I thought this is going to blow up in my face, but I went all-in with my slightly smaller stack. Then the cards turned and he predictably had aggro betted his way to oblivion with only a 3rd pair on the flop.
Now, I do not recommend that as a regular strategy, but, player specific strategy for player specific situations.
