I think amateur players in particular are bothered a lot,
I think the pro players have played so much and are mentally strong.
But you never know. It is difficult to judge people as we see them.

Sure, why not? If you're in a slump, how the hell are you supposed to be happy about that? Now, is it debilitating? Probably not so much.

I get angry when I lose, which is a symptom of depression I suppose. I hate it. Especially suck outs. But, they happen so all I can do is choose to either move on to the next hand or quit playing. I think most players do this; make a choice to continue or at take a break.

I think that depressed individuals can start to play poker to find some alternative to help their depression and poker can worse the disease if the player don't have self control, but I don't think that poker cause depression in previously healthy individuals.

Depression is the greatest evil of our time, and it has been depressing everywhere, including in poker, however they are not necessarily depressed because of poker.

I think pro players who are at really down-swing get depressed a lot, amateur players and fun players aren't affected that much because they know that they can re-deposit and they aren't playing with life-changing money.

Is this new to me, is depression typical of poker players?
I haven't heard of it yet, it's interesting anyway. I think this has a basis in reality because there is little movement and high stress, the cornerstone of depression.
