I just want to say hello to everyone and talk a little bit with other players. So i know this sounds stupid to a lot of people but i want to play poker professionally. I want to play for a living, a part time living (unless something great happens):D

I have been playing poker for about 13 years on and off, have won many freerolls and cashed on many tourneys (back in the pokerstars days)

Now i am disabled and i have no income. I know gambling isnt the answer to my problems but poker isnt really gambling to me because of the skill involved. I am trying to scrap together enough change online to take it to a live table here in my city or foxwoods because its 2 hours from me. I need to take a run at it with a couple of grand. So please anyone who will help me get back on my grind hit me up.

Right now i am playing at americas cardroom. I hate there freerolls, i cant play them seriously. I go all in a lot in the beginning so if i triple up in the beginning i have a better chance to win and if i lose oh well i wait 15 min lol. there prize pool sucks so when i get 25 bucks im making the min deposit and playing 4 tables at once with penny poker i might even play more. I just gotta get up to 900 bucks then its cino time. thats 3 max buy ins at 1-2 nl,. i just want to grind a hundred a day. is that to much to ask lol:rolleyes:

Hi Greg Austin and welcome to Cardschat. Man I feel for you being disabled and no income. For the past 2 1/2 years I have done nothing. I don't know how my lights got paid from one month to the next, or any other bill, BUT it did get paid and all that time I played poker for real money. I come here with $20 at FF, and for sure I was mad as hell. Now I have several BR, which come from CC freerolls. Work yourself into the Freeroll Club and you can build a BR for nothing. Besides that, look around here, and ask some questions about what's going on, and I bet you can find other ways to make money here. Hell I won $800 in 6 months. But if I were you, with the years you been playing, I would pick one site and make a $50 deposit, and play penny poker, and a few very low buy in MTTs. Then if you put together a good BRM system, you could build it easy. I have and you can ask anyone here what I been through. All it takes is to be determined, and use the advice you get here. GL to you

Thanks

hey thanks bud i appreciate it. Yeah bills are stacking up (child support) is killing me so i need some extra income. I want to get to a point where i make just a grand a month. So i would be getting 2k a month overall, it would make my wife extremely happy :) I know i can do it i just gotta manage my money very very carefully. i agree about the penny poker for now though. it wont take me long to get to 5nl. i have a lot of time to play, if i need to i wont sleep to get this money.

I enjoy sngs. A lot of players dont know how to play position in them and i 7 out of 10 times make the money. Im not the greatest poker player in the world but i got a few big wins in me. :D After looking around at different sites i am choosing bet online as my main and americas cardroom as my fallback. i miss stars

This is my opinion. I would not trust BOL with a dime.

can you tell me why? thats a big statement!!

This goes back several years and has to do with withdrawal processes. For a while at the beginning of BOL, they had the trust factor working for them. Then that trust was broken, and once anyone or anything loses that trust factor, can it ever get it back?

For some weird reason I am beginning to like the place, but will not deposit there. They do have some serious hardware issues, which usually show up as disconnects, and then canceled tourney's, but I get the feeling they are working on that.

My gut tells me a lot of it is fault tolerance, and how they haven't dealt with that as well as needs be. At that gut feeling was somewhat verified when I got a WiFi extender. Seems I was getting a lot of re-transmission errors between my laptop and my WiFi router, which translated to disconnects when playing at BOL. When I got the extender those errors were greatly reduced, and I pretty much stopped getting those disco's from BOL. FWIW, a lot of other issues disappeared when I got that extender.

The thing is, they have bigger traffic than WPN (ACR, BCP, True) or Bovada, or Merge (the US 'standard' go to sites). And that just can't be ignored.

PapaC I see that you play at full flush. hows that? and this forum gives it a terrible review for it. Whats going on with that?

DJ11 thanks for the info... I wont deposit more then 50 bucks there, i will keep it really low and cash out often and if i have any problems i will report it to other players on here so they dont get screwed over. I would like someone to come on and say they never had a problem with them.

Same software as BOL, but not the same network. While CC no longer promotes the games there, FF does still call them CardsChat Freerolls, I think it is because for whatever reason FF wouldn't use PW's and make the games actually private. Can't quote me on that, tho.

For our BOL games, you have to qualify, then get on the list which is submitted periodically to BOL and then you are automatically included in that Freeroll every week. It is a very interesting game. Most of the time there is better than 50% sitouts.

The FF games have been $100 cash plus tickets (top 3), typical ticket value might be $50. Somehow I amassed 6. Blew one on Sunday. The FF games typical play faster than the BOL games mostly (I think) because the folks in that FF game wanted to be there.

All I can say is good luck playing poker. I have to somehow agree with you that other people say poker is not a gamble, it's a tournament where you compete and use your skills to win. But to majority of them when you say poker the first thing they will think it's a gamblers game. If I were you I would play poker just for fun not us an source of income.

When money is involved it becomes more then just fun. I really cant afford to just "have fun" Im already reading a lot of different material to improve my game. I know it takes luck as well, im not saying it dosnt but im ready to put in the work and have already started, however i am talking about B&M games not online poker. Im going to at least give it my best as a source of income.

Greg I've been promoting Full Flush since they opened the doors. And I never thought I would have to say anything bad about the site, but right now I would not play there either. I have a big BR there, and I may lose it at any time now. The site is at a stand still, so I'm sitting back to see what happens.

dj11 covered the rest for me and done a good job of it.

This thread confuses me for many reasons...aside from that I would not recommend playing anywhere that isnt governed by the USA, meaning only poker stars and 888 should be the only places you play (if looking to make a living at it). BOL and many of the smaller sites have issues in making timely payments, having widespread collusion, and other issues.

If you are looking for a stake, there is a staking thread, but you would have to PROVE how good of a player you are until you get a rep. Otherwise no one is going to give you anything outside a few bucks.

sorry i didnt make this thread to confuse anyone. im in the us so im limited online. collusion is always a issue on any site... the smaller the site the easier it is to report and catch people right? its only logical to assume that. I could be wrong however

Not necessarily true at all. Most sites will run anti-collusion software daily to make sure there are no blatant violators, the bigger the site, the better the software to do this. Also, the bigger sites will actually do something about it rather than just say you are just being paranoid.

Didnt you say 2 hours to foxwoods? Which direction? because that is really close to New Jersey (more or less) where you can play PS and 888.

If going online Id say Bovada, probably because not knowing who anybody is helps with the collusion factor, not much but a little. Plus their payouts have always been fast and easy

I live in Mass, its 2-3 hours from me, its SE from me. Im closer to ny to nj. I have a place i go to here in my city every weekend if i want but i dont like one of the dealers there and if im in a big tourney i dont want him dealing my crads when we have bad juju lol he tried to muck my winning hand, this guy took my cards put them in the middle of the deck and shoved the pot to the loser and told me to prove that i had the winning hand when everyone at the table saw it. The manager had to come over and it was a scene lol thought he could get me off my game because i was drinking and shove the pot to his friend. so yeah i do not want to play there often.

Foxwoods is my goal but i need to win enough buy ins online and save money on the side put it all together and go. Im going to have so much redbull and chronic to keep me awake and focused as a bonus my friend has a bunch of points for a room for like a week or two at least so if everything goes right it could launch me into a good position. if not then so be it but i have some time before that happens to read, study, work on my mathematics and my other problem areas.

I wish i could play at pokerstars. I really feel like all these sites im playing at are knock offs lol
