I my opinion Yes! It is Really Important to all players regardless of your competence in Playing Poker, It is not limited to the Professional Players, In fact I would say that it is far more Important to the Hobby and Fun Players who want to enjoy the game without it costing you an Arm or a Leg to Play.
On-line, it is so easy to lose to better players, if you are playing out of your comfort zone, or playing with scared money all the time. If you cannot afford to burn that money and wave goodbye to it, then you should NOT! be playing big buy-ins, and big Tournament's.

I have two bankroll's, One for playing On-line Which happens to be my Balance, and another for playing in Live events, Which I keep in a Safe for games I will play in my Local Pub or a trip to a Casino, I never buy-in for more than 1% of either. Am I a Professional Player? Far from it, I still only play Poker for Fun and Relaxation, because that is all I want from the Game and If I lose £100 at a Casino now and again, I can afford to lose it otherwise I just wouldn't play.

Am I a Profitable Player? The answer is a definite Yes! otherwise I wouldn't have built several Bankrolls On-line from freerolls, on several different Sites, allowing me to play for Free! Whenever I feel like it, or being able to afford to go to Casino's whenever the urge to do so happens. And all this has been possible to a Sound Bankroll Strategy, that works for me, and can work for anyone with the Patience and Time to follow.

Have I lost money playing Poker? Yes! But never more than I am willing to lose and that is the secret to my success. Stick to a sound Bankroll Strategy and you cannot go wrong or bust your Bankroll if you are sensible, Find one that works for you, whether it's 1% or 5% If it works for you then stick with it.

Good Luck!

Is Bankroll Strategy Important?!. Hm, I will reply merely and directly: by my modest opinion, Bankroll Strategy is most important in Poker! That's and all!

Hi, Good post about bankroll and I agree with your recommendation. I’m using this for control my bankroll.

This is a great strategy and I am sure if more players adopted a similar strategy they could also be profitable, it underlines the fact that you need to walk before you can run, and if they deposit money they should be playing games at a lower level than they think.$100. Dollars won't last long if they buy-into games above the $250 level.

Great Table!

I actually disagree a little bit in the sense, that I think, bankroll management is mainly for professional or semi-professional players. For people, who play for fun, and perhaps somewhat infrequently, it makes more sense to talk about money management or a poker budget. If for instance a recreational player wants to play the $109 Sunday Million, there is no reason, why he need to have at least $12.500 set aside for poker, as an extrapolation of that table will suggest. He can even just deposit $109 into his empty account and then register. This is not a problem, if he can afford to spend those $109 on an evening of fun.

And at the other end of the spectrum, if someone has won $50 from a freeroll, there is no reason, why they should feel, they have to spend that money only on $0,55 MTTs or $1 SnGs, as the table suggest. Not everyone enjoy grinding for hours at such low stakes, and if they have more fun playing a smaller number of more expensive games, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Hopefully most poker players have at least some sort of disposable income, and then its not a big deal to pop another $50 into the account at some later point, if the $50 currently sitting there is lost.

bankroll management is important, but I agree with @fundiver199. In addition; If a have a bankroll of $1000 and I withdraw $900, then I wouldn't reduce my buy ins also by 1/10

Yes it's very important. I'm very cautious with my BR so much, that I refer to myself as a BR nit.

Per definition a bankroll is money available for poker, which you dont need for other purposes, and that you would also be ok losing (of course everyone prefer winning). So if you have withdrawn $900 and spend it, then your new bankroll is those $100, you left in the poker account. On the other hand money dont need to sit in the poker account to be a bankroll. They can sit in a regular bank account, and if you play on multible sites, there is no need to keep a separate "bankroll" on each of them.

The bankroll is not only important to avoid big loses, but to be able to survive the big downswings.

I think bankroll management is very important in poker to ensure grind continuity in the event of a down swing.

Otherwise, without bankroll management we always risk losing all our capital and ending up in a catastrophic situation.

Arguably the most important factor, determines whether you'll be profitable or not. I know a few great players who never achieved success due to poor bankroll management and gambling issues.

Of course is really important. In poker there is the famous variance, since it is a game of probabilities. Therefore, it is absolutely normal that we go through periods of bad streaks or downswing, where we are going to accumulate losses and this is where the importance of proper bank management comes in.
If you are not able to manage your bankroll in a proper way that allows you to deal with the variance or the Downswing, it does not matter if you are the best poker player in the world, you are going to be destined to fail.

Yes bankroll management is very important in my opinion. Especially the addiction factor should not be underestimated. It is still partly a game of chance, no matter how good you are, you can lose at any time, even if you are 96% favourite. I used to try to make up for my losses with a higher bet or a higher buy-in level until I often lost my entire bankroll. So it is important to have the discipline to follow a bankroll management in order not to get addicted.

A bankroll management helps you to deal with losses and to cope with them, because you only lose a small part of your money at a time.

But as written in the previous reviews, I also think it is not that important for players who only play occasionally and just want to have fun. It can happen that you say I'll play a tournament for 100 dollars and have a few hours of fun.

Yeah, I'm definitely on board with that concept. Especially for new players, since a bankroll allows you to get to know yourself better, as a player. Identify the strong and weak points. The strictness in terms of managing it depends on many factors, including the degree of risk aversion.
A new player's bankroll teaches him to lose and learn to recover from losing streaks.
An advanced player naturally knows how to deal with wins and losses, this is not the case with beginning players. That's why I recommend bankroll for players who want to seriously start poker.
Greetings.

This to me is very important i started playing online poker when the pandemic started with a $30 deposit at PS and have had some ups and downs but if you want to keep playing you need a bank roll. When PS changed for me and i can only play people from Ontario so i made a withdraw and now i only keep enough to play $3 to$5 KO games once a day. Before that i was playing higher stakes and had $3894.75 but those day's are over for me.

this is a good, general guide but only applies if you're able to beat the games and profit over a large enough sample size.

just because you can deposit $2500 and buy into $60 songs, doesn't mean you should if you can't beat the lower levels.

Hello friend, that's right, the bankroll strategy is the most important thing and what it costs for all players to understand it, if you respect your bank roll, this is what will differentiate you from other players to level up. greetings

This is true. But the opposite is also true. There is no reason, why you should put artificial "bankroll" limitations on yourself and spend endless amounts of times grinding for pennies or playing freerolls, just so that you dont have to deposit anything at all ;)

This is without exaggeration a great post. You clearly talk about important and correct things. In my opinion, bankroll management is one of the foundations without which it is simply impossible to achieve good results, and players who do not understand this are doomed to disappointment and losses.
