What does everyone consider to be a descent enough bankroll to start playing poker? I would like to have 2 separate bankrolls... 1 for the $1-$3 cash games and 1 for tournaments. The average buy in is about $130-$200.

Hello there,
according to my knowledge a player should have at least 100+ buy-ins for Tourneys(whatever level you are playing from) and about 30-50 buy-ins for the cash games.
I think the reason of such a difference between them both are that because with Tourneys the variance and swings are much bigger than with Cash games.

Good luck at the tables:)

that is correct , around 200$ ... that should be decent per month , not per week , if do it per week it is to much and you should cut your loses :)

Hi.
Usually, the size of my bankroll is 150-200 dollars. That's enough for me to participate in my favorite tournaments. I don't play cash games, I prefer tournaments.
Good luck.

For me personally I think the ideal poker bankroll should be $1,000. That's just me though everybody is different.

It depends for which game. Various sources say that you need at least 30-50 times more than the big minimum bid. Therefore, it's your business. I love tournaments. I participate in the cheapest for $ 1. Therefore, even 5-10 dollars is a normal bankroll for my purposes of the game.

I would say a decent bankroll is 100 buyins, whether it's cash games or tournaments. I personally like having a much larger bankroll, around 200 buyins or more.

With the contributions that I play, 20 dollars is enough for me. It's not the same for everybody.

There are rules for building a bankroll, stick to them and that's it. And how many bankrolls you will have and for what purposes - it's up to you to decide)))

For 1/3$ live cash games it would be reasonable to start with something like 10.000$, since it gives you 33 times a 100BB buyin. If you only play 130-200$ tournaments occationally on weekends and so, I dont see any need to have a special bankroll for that. But if you are really going to play a lot of tournaments, you might want to start with something like 20.000$ instead, since variance is going to be higher in those.

Well, its a pretty easy piece math don't you think?
$1-$3 cash games would at the very least be 30 buy ins if you are a winning player who does not want to go busto. In that case, $9000 would be the minimum.

For tournaments, you probably need 100 buy ins for big field tourneys making $13000 - $20000 a good starting roll..

Expensive stuff really. :D
